Predators are basically the poisonous, armored, short-range flight-capable heavy cavalry of the Kai. They are omnivores, element-gatherers, EXTREMELY bloodthirsty, and intelligent. Not as much as the Nurses or You, but are capable of making their own choices. It might eat other larvae from time to time, but Our Nurse is capable of preventing that. On its own strength, it can severely damage armor plating and eventually carve and eat its way through anything. It's a little large to be effective underground as a digger, but it can do so for a while before going on a killing frenzy.

It can take a lot more damage than you can. While IC modern small-caliber could eventually kill you with good aim and a lot of weaponry, it would never do much more than irritate the Predator.

Mass drop would STILL kill it very dead, but still.

Could you please add a section of "dectable surface traces"


Because atm, i'm not sure what we have up there -- a couple of flowers, a (large dirt covered) armor plate, a sensor mound.


our thermal traces should be minimal, as we have plants adapting to the cold, and a single tunnel exit, and finally the ship we had is now just a few scrap remains, so that shouldn't be all that interesting.


I am against further construction, or heat sources, on the suface, because IR will stand out very much on a cold planet like Mars.

Also, idea for drone type: "machine brain"
- physically minimal or even larva-like to minimize need for food
- high intelligence
- adapted to laying still inside a cramped container it's entire life
- only sensory organs or consciously controllable output are many extremely high temporal resolution electric organs in shallow ortifaces where wires can literally just be plugged in and ready to go.

Example usages are to remove the intelligence/flexibility disadvantage of mechanical drones, in arrays functioning sort of like biological extra processors for our cluster, or for doing interlectual jobs such as programming or theoretical science without preconceptions formed from having disproportionate experience with the real macro-scale world.

Reminds me of one of the non-hostile creatures in Geneforge. Certainly could help Our Mind with some aspects of the scientific method, though.

We should plant some remote-detonable pollen fuel in the path of the pirate vessel, maybe 1/20th of a canister, at a significant distance, perhaps 1/3rd of a day's travel, from the hive. This would be detonated only if it was deemed necessary to prevent the hive being discovered.

We should seek to acquire computers that can design better computers...
If it is possible for them to interact directly with our mind, then we should have them perform extensive analysis to detect strangers interacting with our mind.

Analyse the damaged biped facility to determine the nature of their hives. Then acquire all portable resources. Bury and conceal any high-value low-portability resources.

Are our outside flowers visible? We might want to build some kind of framework around them, put cloth or something on the framework, then coat the cloth with dust as camouflage.
(I still think we would be better off with using inside flowers so they are easier to protect/conceal and make up for the production decrease by planting more of them.)

As to the "Machine-Brain", we don't have the DNA(or whatever molevule the Kai and Flowers use) modification ability to accomplish that.

And to the AI idea ("computers able to design better computers"), too far in the future. WAY TOO FAR.

Actually not really, it could just compute which part / design would lead to more efficient results (efficiency could be dictated by principles we input) and let it run for a year or two.
