You Are A Kai Queen / You Are A Kai Commander, Day 41
« on: June 23, 2012, 03:52:27 pm »

The last Queen, in fact.  You are the one remaining pregnant female of your species left in the entire multiverse. A great war brought your species down, and all that remains of your home system is a spinning cooling sun-mass that is giving off more radiation than anything else. Even if there WERE any planets left in the area, you would likely die.

As it stands, your ship is nearly out of fuel. You have enough to aim towards a planet and crash-land. It won't kill you, presumably. Some of the Last Colony might die, but you are the Queen and they are but extensions of your will and very body.

There are three suitable planets for life.

The first is a polluted and highly industrialized world, filled with bipedal ape-like creatures. They never got involved in the War proper, but have killed enough of your numbers on their exploration. It is certain to be difficult, but there is the most biomass there and examples to evolve into. The Flowers could grow, most likely.

The second is a harsh planet in the process of terraforming and mineral extraction. The environment is harsh as hell, and will take some time getting used to, but most of the planet is free for you to claim and not have to fight pincer and fang for. It will take a long time for the Flowers to grow, but you know you can solve that.

The third planet is not even a planet - it is actually a moon made of fuel surrounded by an incredibly large metal extraction complex. It is almost entirely devoid of biomass, but full of nooks and crannies and corners to hide in. You're not at all sure that you can grow the Flowers there, but you know you can likely build a hydroponics center.

You consider this for a moment in zero-G. Clearly, you should go to the planet best suited for your Line - Spirit (War), Body (Evolution) , or Mind (Technology).

[Think a cross between the Invid, the Buggers, and the Zerg. Pick your Line and what Planet to crash-land on.

A species name would be nice, but it is optional. You don't have a name for yourself, aside from "You" and "We."]

We crashland on Mars(Second planet), where we will quickly evolve and adjust to the environement.

((Also, what's up with the recent flood of Suggestion games. There are nearly 2 new ones per day now.))

I say we go with mind, and the second planet. Form it to our needs through force of will!

[I just had this idea for a long time. I'm done with my 3; I can only run so many at a time.

One vote Body, one vote Mind. Tiebreaker, anyone? xD]

You decide that the red terraforming planet is the best place for your new Colony. You're still rather young and the inherent knowledge of your Queen Mothers has yet to fully blossom within your mind (possibly a side effect of the omnicide?), and you set course for Mars.

You mentally order some second-tier Drones to take over the piloting, and retreat to your inner chambers, contemplating the readiness time of your eggs and your origins.

Are you going to tell us what the non-planet is?

Also, once we arrive, we should tunnel beneath ground. Best to avoid detection as long as possible.

[Earth, Mars, Titan. I know Titan was described incorrectly; the Alien Homeworld is far away.]

A quantum eternity passes as you drift within the memories of your mind. White the art of changing Us to adapt is one you are comfortable with, you feel more comfortable building things to make them adapt to Us and to fight wars for Us. Or at least, to make Us better at killing.

The proximity alarms begin to go off. You brace yourself and bend the joints of your lower six legs.

After a short period of dizzying free-fall, your ship crashes and fragments, leaving your chamber exposed to the dry, dusty air. You stagger to your feet and examine your egg sack. Good. Safe. You rub your antennae together, creating a hideous metal shriek. Over the period of a half-hour, your Colony is assembled outside the remains of your ship.

You are:
1 Queen Alien
1 Level 3 Nurse Drone
2 Level 2 Navigation Drones
17 Basic Drones
1 Flying Warrior
4 Basic Warriors
20 Larvae
100 Eggs

You own:
A Partially Damaged Reactor
Damaged Metal Plating
Computer Parts / Wiring
40 Dormant Flowers
Relevant Tools
A Light Energy Machine Gun

What now? You feel the instinctual need to build a hive with a hatching chamber, but you pause and wait, examining the wreckage of your ship as the Drones begin to tunnel into the ground, Warriors standing by. There is biomass to consume within (mostly, dead drones and soldiers, but a few "experimental test subjects), and you can extract more from the wreckage before dust and environmental damage ruin the more delicate equipment.

Of course, it's burning hot, and given the length of your trip, you are pretty sure that SOMETHING is going to come along to examine it. The Bipedals tend to shoot first and vivisect later.

...burning hot? Mars?

Have the nurse drone tend to any injured drones. Have the drones dig down a good distance, and excavate a sizable chamber. Have the warriors strip the ship and move all materials underground. Eat all the dead drones you can, move the test subjects underground for further investigation.

This, and use some of the excavated debris to create defensive earthworks around any entrances.

The planet itself is unpleasantly cool, and it is already daytime. The ship, however, is glowing hot in many places, and there are many fires from the friction of the uncontrolled crash-landing and the inevitable fires that occur with violent crash-landings and volatile substances.

You note that You should work on Your mental syntax to Yourself. You command the warriors to strip the ship of anything useful or edible that they can find Us without requiring serious repairs to their bodies. You possess the largest Drone and begin to dig faster, emitting the proper Pheromones to mark Our nest. Lastly, Tou position yourself next to Our hulking Nurse Drone and gorge Yourself upon Our corpses.

Time passes, and before long, You are full. The soldiers recover and strip everything of value from the ship, including the mostly-intact Sensory Array and some point defense laser weaponry from the ship. You proceed to enter the Nest and begin to insulate the area while the Nurse feeds and the Drones begin to manufacture basic entryway defenses.

You feel as though several of Your eggs have reached the maturity level required to be laid as Drones. You also sense the hunger of your Soldiers and Drones, and rapidly calculate that you have sufficient biomass to feed one group or the other. You are aware that they will survive for some time without eating, but that it will impair their performance. Likewise, you can order the Nurse to stop feeding and feed both, but the Nurse is considerably more evolved and expensive than Drones or Warriors.

A Bunch of Spare Parts
Point Defense Laser
A Lot of Damaged to Intact Metal Plating
Many Computer Parts / Wiring
40 Dormant Flowers
Relevant Tools
A Queen-Sized Light Energy Machine Gun
A Soldier-Sized Light Energy Blaster
Dead Biped Test Subjects
A Sensory Array
A Half-Digested Dead Level Three Armored Warrior
Various Uneaten Dead Drones

A Queen's Chamber

Try to remember the biped symbol for PEACE and have a drone engrave it on the ground in a large circle around the colony.

More info on the flowers?

You don't understand the concept of "peace". Why live next to a competitor and allow it to consume resources? Best to kill it and consume their resources.

You recall that the Flowers are semi-sentient beings you have a symbiotic relationship with. They provide food, fuel, chemicals, and are otherwise completely vital to Our life-cycle. While synthetic versions of the compounds have been made that are barely enough to provide vital nutrients, and traces can be extracted from the dead, it is not yet possible to manufacture fuel from it.

In social insects, a nurse is a specialization of drone that takes care of eggs and larvae. Is that what our nurse is? Also, I'm currently imagining our character as a giant millipede. Just wanted to throw that out there.

The Drones need the food more than the Warriors. They should focus on getting the Flowers growing, so that this doesn't become an issue in the future.

It is exactly that, but it also has other healing-related abilities, because aliens.

You order the Drones and Nurse to eat the food, and equip Our Flying Warrior with a weapon. After they eat, the drones abandon the construction of the earthworks and begin to dig holes for the Queen's Flowers -a  well-tended bloom that is used and raised mostly for the purposes of Royal Jelly. The soldiers attempt to continue construction of the earthworks, but are much slower at the task than their older sisters.

You sense that the sun is beginning to set. You do not sleep, but suspect that the extreme cold will result in Us being sluggish.
