Liongifts - Pony Community Fort
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:12:11 am »

Whatever day this is, year 120 something.

Well, the unwashed peasants have finally finished loading up the wagon with the essential supplies to carve a county out of whatever the place we're going to is called. No soldiers yet, which does mildly dismay me, but I'm a fair hand with a crossbow, so when the serfs get me some bolts, I should be able to play the hero again and save us all.
Onto more important news - We've run out of Sunshine. That will be my first thing started when we get there.
I could write more about the peasantry, but I couldn't care less about them.

((Okay. So this is going to be a community fort, of sorts. We're going to be using the pony raws for 34.10, but not only are we using a mod, we're undergoing a challenge. The Manor challenge. Basically nobles own everything, each level of noble can only have a certain amount of industries as well as a certain amount of soldiers. The nobles decide the conditions of their workers, within certain limits, and there will be a semi-economic meta-game to it.

We currently have Alastair, Lord of the Manor, 2 earth pony peasants, 2 pegasus peasants (one taken), and two unicorn peasants.

Now, because it has to be said:

"Alastair! The peasants are revolting!" "I know, I can smell them from here!"))

I'll echo Khenal.  Looks interesting, but to say that I am short on time to participate is a massive understatement.  :)  Still, I can read it if nothing else.

So. Current Status:

4 ponies claimed. All unicorns, and that pegasus.

Current industries per noble:

Alastair Reinholt, Lord of the Manor, Bookkeeper, Chief Medical Pony, Militia Commander, etc,: Farming, Brewing, Woodcutting, Carpentry.

Current buildings per noble:

Alastair Reinholt, see above,: Nothing as of yet.

With any luck, I'll find enough time to do the first proper update soon.

((Right. All pegasi are claimed, all unicorns are claimed, only those two mud ponies left. Let's see how it goes. Do you have a nickname for the pegasus, Jarod?))

Year  126, damn your eyes! Month of Granite, early spring.

Well, it's been snowing this month, got those damned peasants to keep the food clear of the snow, they'd die without somepony to tell them what to do, just starve, and then I had to get our first industries sorted. Alastair the Bookkeeper said that naturally, he'd make sure that we had just enough supplies to survive, and Alastair the Manager, on the other hand, said that he'd make sure that we had just enough work to survive, while Alastair the Expedition Leader listened to any complaints and Alastair the Sheriff whacked everypony who complained over the head, leaving Alastair the Militia Captain to fend off the giant wolverine (How do you like that, eh?! EH!?) and Alastair the Broker to count the money sacks. All in all a productive meeting. Now, the next meeting will be in...Slate, or whatever the next month is.

Oh, and the peasants decided they wanted pictures. So I told them that Alastair the Chief Medical Pony would 'draw' them, and that seemed to amuse them. Here are the results.

(a small self portrait, nothing too egotistical, DAMN THE EYES OF WHOEVER CALLS ME EGOTISTICAL!)

Year 126, Slate! Mid-spring for you unwashed peasant types!

SUNSHINE! WE HAVE IT! I'LL BE DRUNK FOR A MONTH!

But then that bloody Alastair, the Sheriff, had to put us in the lock-up, but Alastair the Expedition Leader gave us a pardon. Oh, well, Seems I'll just have to struggle on. Oh, and we've started building the manor, too. The peasants just put the first wall in.

An update - the manor's walls are nearly complete. I suppose they'll need a ramp to put the roof on, despite those bloody flappers on two of them. TRY FLYING, DAMN YOUR EYES!

Year 126, Hematite. Early Summer.

Ugh. I still can't remember what happened last month, but the manor is completed now, and I have a bed. Well. I guess that's good.

The peasants still complain about not having anywhere to sleep. I don't see what the problem is. I have a bed.

Alastair sat in his chair, looking at the outpost’s books, slightly bored with the figures, when he heard the tramp of the hooves of more ponies, and his happy mood disappeared. More of the unwashed peasants, what! Damn their eyes! He made his way out, resigned to having to greet them.

Trowel and his wife, Peony, walked with the other migrants towards what they were pretty sure was Liongifts.  Trowel noded to himself when he saw a fancy pony exit the only real building around, thinking that must be whoever is in charge of greeting newcomers.  He smiled and waved at the unicorn.  “Hello!  This is Liongifts, right?  I’m Trowel, by the way!”

“This is Liongifts,” says Alastair with some mild distaste for having to deal with another peasant. “I am Lord Alastair, master of this outpost. I presume you’re here to find jobs, eh?”

Trowel nodded with a pleasant smile.  “Yes sir!  I’m looking forward to helping grow the food and the fort!”

“Well.” The mud pony’s smile was annoying Alastair, though as a proper noble, he refused to show it, dontchaknow, and he smiled back. “That’s good. We’ve got a need for more serfs farming. There’s the field, and the others know where the seeds are. The dormitory’s over there.”

Trowel nodded again, still looking happy.  “Great!  What’s the main crop, if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Sunberries! Sunberries. We make sunshine. We need lots of them. Because sunshine is the only suitable drink for noble ponies like myself.”

Trowel looks impressed.  “Sunberries?  Wow!  I had a sip of sunshine once, at my uncle’s wedding.  If we’re making that heavenly drink, Liongifts will be a big city in no time!”

“Yes, yes, yes, get on with it, peasant!” And then Alastair the Expedition Leader had an idea, and Alastair the Manager agreed, but Alastair the Broker was heartbroken. “On second thought, YOU can be in charge of the farming, so I don’t have to be bothered with it any more. Get on with it!”

Trowel looks a bit surprised at getting yelled at and being called a peasant.  Peony had to help him pick up his jaw as Alistair apparently benobled him!  “Uh... me?  Um, alright?”

“Yes, you. Get on with it, I suppose you like talking to those peasant-types. Take five of them, of those mud ponies with you.”

Trowel blinks a few times before turning to the other migrants that came with him.  “So... who was good at farming, again?”

(( Claimed an Earthpony, who has been volunteered as the farming noble, heh.  Trowel's ponies will have fairly good accommodations, and he's looking to have 2 dedicated farmers, 1 cook/brewer, 1 herbalist and one plant processor. ))

Tzarthus was out cutting down some trees. It was fun work, the tree cutting, that is. Tzarthus loved cutting things... Anyway, the trees were fun, really fun. Chopping was such a wholesome pass time, but trees, they don’t give off the same feel one gets when one chopps something living. “This no fun anymore...” Tzarthus wasn’t enjoying himself anymore, and he knew who could fix that. After finishing chopping the bare minimum about of trees needed he walked over to the manor. “Alastair LET us IN!” why he said ‘us’ is a mystery.

Ugh. Peasants again. Alastair got up and went to the door. “What is it?” he said, trying to ignore the obvious peasant stench.

“YOU aren’t giving US any entertainment! This work IS beyond repetitive and mundane!”

“Oh, for goodness sake...Okay then! Talk to that Trowel person!”

“TROWEL, that insane CREATURE is not worth OUR time. YOU assign LABOR, yes?”

“...” Alastair sighed. “What is it you want, then?” Bloody peasant.

“IF you WOULD give us a job that Included slicing things up!”

“...Okay. You can be the peasant’s medical pony.”

“... YES WE WOULD LOVE THE JOB!”

“...Good. Now go away.”

“WE WILL!”

If there is still a pony open, I will take him and call him Silent Night. If not, I will just watch and wait my turn. :)
