That is a written narrative history of how kobolds evolved. Somebody told a absolutely terrible and unrelated joke, and their minds melted to the state of only being able to make utterances and wear loincloths.

Eh, arn't ALL fortresses soaked in blood eventually anyway even in "good" biomes? this just simplifies things...

Oh cool this thread got bumped.

Not unless the rain can also cause miasma and catch everything on fire, then some effort on the overseers part still has to be done.

Mine roll around in Dwarf blood snow. Or rain, either one really. Snow looks nicer though.
I currently have this on my embark. Funny that dwarves only get a mild unhappy thought from it, you would think they would be more disturbed that its blood from their own race, but apparently not.
Well I assume you'd get shocked maybe the first time, but after a while it would seem to be a normal occurrence to you. Not to mention the only ones that would be disturbed would be the ones that are squeamish, as the source is never really discovered. And Dwarves are not squeamish.

It would be awesome to have the dwarfs start with pretty strong unhappy thoughts by it, making settling there especially hard, but become desensitized to it as time goes on. Then all your migrants would get the same strong unhappy thought by the shear horror of the scene. Might even lend itself to the culture aspects of the game in future versions with peaceful pure cultures flagging you as barbarian savages.

[...] as the source is never really discovered.

Where does blood rain come from, anyways?

Are evil biomes just the lands underneath the celestial meatpacking district? Do they attract flesh comets which melt as they enter the atmosphere? Are there trillions of magical bacteria which reproduce by opening microscopic portals in their hosts' bloodstreams, hoping that their offspring will randomly appear over the heads of future hosts? IT'S JUST A GAME IT'S JUST A GAME IT'S JUST A GAME

As a man who highlights everything he reads on computers, I can honestly say that I see what you did there, Burns. And it is much, much more than "just a game."

You should be flogged until morale improves.

Well... That does happen. All of my Dwarves actually get happy thoughts by working outdoors and only grumble inclemently about the raining blood.

Then why are kobolds so small?

Probably, other happy thoughts counteracted that.

No, as in there are specific traits in their personality screen that say they love it/tolerate it.

That just means they haven't gotten cave-adapted.

It means the opposite of cave adaption! Dwarves do NOT default on those traits!

Can you really call dwarf a dwarf if they haven't cave-adapted yet?
