I know it sounds selfish... but as much as I want to see this succeed, I'm holding out for the Gentrieve 2 bundle :P good luck though guys!

The whole point of advertising is show what you've got and why someone should be interested, not to redirect them to somewhere they can find your stuff.

Imagine you're watching TV, and a commercial comes on.  It's a guy standing in an office, and he states, "My name is Stanley, and I sell cars.  Visit stanleycars.com" and then the commercial ends.  No information on what type of cars, if they're new or used, if they offer credit options or tradeins...

That's what we've got here.  We know the industry, games, and not a whole lot else.  Nothing here inspires me to investigate anything.

Are you trying to promote things in your signature? All I see are links without any description as to what they are?

It will come, you can be sure of that!  ;D

In the meantime, I hope you consider contributing to the Gentrieve 2 KickStarter project I just launched: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/134798252/gentrieve-2

I guess the real problem with this bundle is that it's not straightforward what you get with it.

Things that matter to your customers are what should be listed. As an example, check out Humble Bundle and Indie Royale. They make it perfectly clear what you're getting, and they have a little video with each bundle. They also have each game clickable if you want to check out a video of them.

Another example as well as a counterexample is Indie Gala. They list each product and a little movie, but I can't tell what each game is like. Do I want the small bundle? The medium one? I have no idea! I can't tell which games are good. And I don't want to search each one to find out. I also don't know if the Steam codes are bundled or not (which matters a lot.)

So, how this relates to your bundle: I don't know how to find what each game is about. I know the cost, certainly. (Why do I care what each individual game costs?) Also, what bonuses are there? I can't tell what they are, or why I should buy them. And lastly, everyone really wants to know how these games are loaded or played. If you say how they're played (for example, through Steam or through download), that doesn't make us worry while we're buying it if it is run through a different downloader or not.

I tried to find a review of a game and it ended up as a Let's Play. I don't want that. And yes, this was on Gamersgate. I want something that takes parts of the gameplay and shows the pros and cons. Then I'll make an informed decision. That was not a review.

As for me, I have no idea how Gamersgate works, and therefore have no incentive to use it. I had the same problem with Steam until someone showed me how to use it. Desura was also different, but I worked my way through that. Is Gamersgate different? I don't know. You should tell me about how the bundle will be played.

Note that I mean no disrespect. I'm merely commenting on what I think would help improve your sales or customer comprehension. Like, why do I care that you take 30% of that money? What does it matter to me how much effort you put into this? These are not things that will help me directly estimate how much I value this bundle, which is the most important aspect. So, that's why it goes beneath the important stuff.

Now that I'm on the subject of it, reorganization would make it like this:

Indiefort Bundle. A collection of really neat games. Buy them here for $6 or more!

Brief description of each game goes here.

Explain why to buy this here.

Explain where the money goes here.

Explain where to contact you more about things here.

Keep a collection of common questions that might be needing answers here.

In all honesty I was unable to write a longer blurb before due to time-constraints. As silly as it sounds, I was called off on emergency guard duty and had to basically bum-rush the post. I'll elaborate shortly, just let me get some caffein into my body and a quick shower. You guys are right, kind of a crappy post!

On a side note, if any of you have a problem seeing the actual indiefort bundle site (if it redirects you to the main gamersgate page for example), clear your cache, and it should work. If you don't know how, open it with a different explorer.)

Also, I'm interested in knowing exactly what kind of DRM scheme, if any, each of the games use.

The only game that has drm is Demise, Ascension due to it being a remake of an older game using it's legacy systems (mind you, the game is still awesome). The game comes with a 30 day play time limit but with a cd key inside that can be sent in to unlock the full game apparantly (instructions inside the game proper).

Kind Regards

So, let's say one already has one or more games directly on Gamersgate that also happen to be a part of this bundle---what then?

Yeah, there is no way of not getting all six games for 6 dollars, but keeping in mind the overall value of the games I think having one or two is offshot by the fact that the rest are initially worth more than the six combined.

Make a giveaway perhaps?

Ah, right on, just wasn't sure how Gamersgate handled that in terms of the shelf/library page and all.

Pretty likely to grab the bundle, though it might be near the very end of it as I try to wrestle funds about.

Yeah for demise you have to email them.  I did and have yet to hear back but its only been 1 day and they said it takes two.

Demise, is like the Devil Whiskey of this pack.  Complicated and almost incomprehensible.  It, like devil whiskey, may be appealing for those willing batter their way into figuring things out.  Unlike devil whiskey I think there are faqs for this.

Also the download for 3079 is different from my desura install (different version) Installing it lets me run both versions but the GOG one has no sound...  I'm gonna try to wipe them both and reinstall but that's annoying.  (If anyone else has this problem, it appears that installing in this manner for some odd reason turns all game volumes to mute...)

Dark Scavenger honestly looks sorta weak, I'd compare it to that wanderlust rebirth from the last pack only that one got hateful with my system and could not run.  The whole "deleting internet cookies will delete your save" thing is frankly inexcusable and bizarre.

Aztaka, actually looks pretty awesome.  I only played a few minutes but it was reminiscent of Aquaria.  Excellent opening, nice graphics, gameplay appears to be the type where you keep gaining new abilities.

Fortix is a draw a line to surround stuff type game.  A classic genre I did not have, not a bad game considering.

Intrusion is sorta like metal slug, as advertised.  It is fairly amusing and I liked riding a wolf while shooting an SMG.  However it lacks the intense environmental detail and comic details that gave metal slug its charm and success.  It feels generic and is generic.

Synopsis:  Buy this if you want Demise or Aztaka, maybe for 3079 if you missed the last bundle it was in and really want it.  Consider the other games as bonus material.

I saw this on the Gamersgate website earlier and I'm not entirely sure what the games are about and I'm not really enticed to buy them, or donate more.

I'd disagree with neotemplar.

Intrusion 2 is more of a physics-based platformer/shooter than an actual Metal Slug clone. The animation system is physics based and works rather well most of the time, particularly on the bigger enemies. It does start off slow, but as you can see in the gameplay trailer, it gets interesting. To me this is the best thing in the bundle, and totally worth the price.

Aztaka, on the other hand, I found totally boring as far as I've played. It plays like a touch-screen game, in that the actual platforming and combat is pretty bad (thwack immobile plants 5 times, then try to jump on platforms with wonky collision detection), and it relies on using drag and drop mechanics for abilities. I'm not particularly impressed with the character graphics either, as they're pre-renders.

Dark Scavenger I'd say is somehwat lacking in gameplay (the combat I'd describe as RPGMakerish, while the choose-your-own-adventure bits are decent), but the bizarre setting and characters are pretty interesting.

Demise is a dungeoncrawler. A difficult one. Although unfortunately, most of the difficulty seems to stem from the real-time automated combat. As in, once combat starts, it goes by too fast for me to make any educated decision before it's over. And you can end up going through a door only to get eaten by wolves a quarter of a second later. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but so far it feels more like it's difficult by bad design.
