I've changed it once, and it was a truncation to 6 letters from a longer user name.

I have three main ones. Although they've been pretty much neglected in favour of my current alias.

I use this user name for almost everything.  I have used one or two before, or use different ones when this one isn't available (quite rare), but it's by far my most common user name.  I use it on pretty much every forum I'm part of, all of the online games I play, and so on.

I used to always use Jetex1911 for at least a great chunk of my internet life, up until after I played a game called RP Radio. Now it's always Nega.

BTW, my brother uses Jetex1911 as his name on here, so if you see that, that's just my bro.

I could swear we had a thread like this just a few months back...

Nope, seems like it was about username origins instead. Gave me some deja vu, though.

Anyway, I've changed my name twice, I suppose. In my humble beginnings, when I first picked a name, I went by Silverdragon, then for a short while I used Eclipse. Finally, I changed to Silfurdreki (Silverdragon in Icelandic) since I wanted a more unique name so that I wouldn't have to add numbers to my name when registering at places. It succeeded as well, the only place 'Silfurdreki' has been taken yet is as a Steam username, of all things.

Zrk2 I have always been and Zrk2 I will remain. Of course this started on Runescape and now has permeated through my internet experience. Never changed it.

I've used 3 usernames in my internet history, Carfan from Endless online (a horrible game, don't play it), bloodfox until I figured out that other people used it, and Whitefoxsniper currently.

I've been RedKing (or occasionally RedKing75, tacking on my birth year because it's not exactly an uncommon name) for roughly 20 years now, dating back to when it was a BBS handle.

But on Chinese forums (and occasionally in games like LoL) I use my "official" Mandarin name, Pan Luoyi (潘罗一). But I'm trying to get away from that one, because there's a female pop singer from Shanghai with the same name (but different characters). So I'm slowly migrating those to Pan Luoli (潘罗利), which is my preferred Mandarin name. You wouldn't think such a small change would make a difference, but boy howdy does it.

Based on the first page (of up to six whole ones, in total, at the moment), I'm still unsure whether the question is about just on this forum, or everywhere.

Since I first registered on bay12forums, I've been Starver.  And even though I've long since stopped (habitually, unavoidably, ineffectually) starving my dwarves, I shall doubtless remain so until and unless something happens like severe and irrecoverable electronic dislocation[1], at which point I have a choice of something that's an obvious successor name, or going out on a new limb.  So insofar as Bay12 (including Mantis, I believe, but been a while since I've used that in anger), it's one and one alone, cheers.  Until I drop off the net, as far as I can say.

But this is the only place I'm known as Starver, and I'm only known as Starver here.  (No sockpuppets, except for my ToadyOne one).  I have a number of other identities in other areas.  None of them are anything like Starver, and I maintain separate existences (albeit that I might be just as wordy).  Really, I could be Notch, Jick, Kevan or Randall Monroe[2], on other forums for all you know.  Hell, I could be George W. Bush, or Boris Johnson or Flora Macdonald or Lilly Marlene, for all you know!  And when I am being Flora Macdonald any of my other personae, that is the sole personae for that area[3].

In short, I tend to universally keep true to a single and perpetual identity<=>location mapping where I'm being me; where I'm expected to be character then I go really schizophrenic (inter-self denying) w.r.t. in-game content, while still being an active hive-mind conglomerate insofar as OOC communications.

(So, what are pages 2-6 now discussing?)

[1] e.g. forgotten to rearrange things if/when I change my contact email address, and then much later on forget the password to this place, with no realistic way of getting access back except perhaps through the judgement of Toady or a duly elected minion.  (This situation having effectively happened before, elsewhere.)

[3] Except that I'm not even on XKCD forums, or else I'd point out things like the http://xkcd.com/1069/ hover-text indicating that he'd be happy to make "make out" into "mace out", which sounds a whole lot less romantic. ;)

[3] With the exception of a MUD that I partake in, where I have multiple characters for multiple classes, but I always make sure they stay away from each other (memetically... and I'm not interested in getting around the restrictions made against parallel-playing, because I'd never want to do that anyway).  And, where it counts, the connection is made obvious.

I've had Criptfeind for a long. Long. Long time. Ten+ years. Which is why I still use it even thought it's... Not a very good name. At least it has a history right?

I used to have one name before Criptfeind. Back when I was so young I could not spell anything at all (last week) I went by a made up easy to remember string of letters. But that name is pretty long gone now. Sometimes it pops back up. But that is rare. At this point Criptfeind is ingrained so far into me that I would almost count it as a second name, I certainly answer to it more often then I do my real name... Although maybe it is less of a second name and more of a second person, as Criptfeind and David are two very different people now a days.

Nice thing about Criptfeind though is that no one ever goes for it. I have never had it taken before. So if you go anywhere on the internet and see a Criptfeind it is almost certainly me! Unless it is a porn site, then it is someone else.

I'm surprised, its the name of super-obscure gothish group from way back. I can't even find mention of it online or on wikipedia, bahaha.

I've been using Ehndras for a year years now, before that I used Vvaryk, before that I used mostly MaximaAarkon(PS3 screenname and my user on dozens of sites), and before that, Crimzondrake.(Yes, I was Runescape's top-20 Crimzondrake before I got hacked. Man, did I love me some smithing! Also my ooooooooold Neopets user bahaha!)

Ehndras is from Ehndras Vvaros Aurea, Sentinel of Arkhan'a, Son of Maximilian Vvaryk Aurea, mortal descendant of Arkhan god of Judgement, Creator of Man, Ninth Avatar of the Auros Dynasty, main characters in my now-defunct Fantasy novel series I trashed after some douchebag stole my bookbag full of years worth of notations. :( I didn't feel like starting over from scratch so I just abandoned the novel project and started working on Scifi. The only thing I kept were some online notes describing some basic ideas for my gods, so at least I still have my pantheon and some random stuff.
