So I have finally lasted longer than a few days!! Horray!  Anyway, my thirst is constantly in the red even though I am constantly drinking the blood of of my stuff.  It doesn't seem to hinder me and I haven't died yet.  I'm confused about how that works.  My other question is about companion nicknames.  I have nicknamed my companions but when they battle, their actions are announced as "The lasher does x" or "The swordsman does x".  Id like to see their names.  Do I have to make their names their professions to see that?

I'm pretty sure thirst should not be in red. What do you mean by "constantly" drinking? One trick that may help is that every time you travel in fast travel, you can drink another three times. Also, sleeping for a night usually raises thirst two or three times, so if you did that too often, that may be why. For me, there's usually no thirst sign, then it's a blue "Thirsty" then a yellow one. I have never gotten to red.

For the names, I suspect that you are correct.

Oh yeah dude, ive been killing night creatures and drinking their blood and i killed a vampire and drank his blood haha ok sweet.  maybe lol.  How do I feed?  And another question, I have a bronze shield in my inventory.  I had a copper shield equipped so I dropped both and them picked up the bronze one first but it didn't go into my hand, it just went in my backpack.  I have tried a couple more times to do this to no avail.  I don't get it.

The inventory system is a little weird. What you want to do is remove the shields from your bag with r.

The way it works, is that it's implied that an adventurer should only have one item in each hand, so that in the inventory screen, there should be only two greyed out items.
Only when you have a free hand, will a picked up item go into your free hand. Otherwise into the first backpack you have equipped, and if you don't have a backpack equipped, you can't pick it up.
But whenever you remove something, it goes into the [less-filled] hand, and you can in fact have more than one item per hand.

Oh ok interesting.  hmm.  It seems that I started out with a two handed sword and shield and I guess I dropped the sheild when I was hit one time and I can re-equip it because I have a two handed weapon.  One more question, can I die from not feeding as a vampire?
