Building a new Computer

...because my old one's obviously a pile of trash by now - literally.

I've got a budget of 1k€ (that's what, 1337$?) and now I'd like to know whether it's actually feasible with the parts I've picked. Yanno, whether they actually fit with each other or if any of them are possessed or something. Because nothing's more embarrassing (unnecessary hyperbole ho!) than getting all the parts and then realising that the PSU doesn't fit into the case and then accidentally summoning Pazuzu.

Here's what I got:
  • Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Intel Z77 So.1155 Dual Channel DDR3 ATX
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K 4x 3.40GHz (I know this one's compatible with the MB at least)
  • PSU: 500W Antec Eearthwatts EA-500D Green (Despite the prevalence of "green" PSU's, almost none of them actually are. What the hell? At least this one is.)
  • Graphics Card: 2048MB Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 (I know that the MB has 2 x16 PCIe slots so this should fit.)
  • RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3-1600DIMM CL9 Dual Kit (I'll assume they won't be compatible with my 2GB Samsung RAMs :V)
  • HDD: 1000GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST1000DM003 64MB 3.5" SATA 6Gb (plus a pair of 500GB HDDs that I salvaged. At least one of them can be used as a second one I guess.)
  • Case: Lancool PC-K62 Midi Tower
  • Fan: be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced C1 AMD
  • WLAN Card: Asus PCE-N15 2T2R PCIe 300MBit

The PSU would be a weakpoint as the EarthWatts are pretty weak as shit, look for something above 500w and get the efficiency over 80%.
mobo and cpu are perfect for each other
video card is awesome for HD gaming and i wouldn't recommend any higher unless you are doing multi monitors
HD well its the best you can get but if you do got the extra cash go invest in a SSD for your OS, trust me once it boots up you'll never be the same.

The Earthwatts EA-500D is 80+ Bronze certified, and is actually a damn good PSU. 500W is plenty for everything except dual-graphics-card systems or high-power overclocking. I've never used a PSU over 600W in a build, and used to use Tagan 480W PSUs in everything despite using top-end hardware. If you use a reputable PSU brand (i.e. 80+ certified), then it's plenty. If it's not reputable... well a qtec "gold" 650W famously explodes if you push it past a sustained load of 500W, so...

TLDR: Earthwatts is fine.

I checked, and 500W is more than enough. Overclocking is for munchkins anyway :V

Not that it matters, because they sold out when I wasn't looking. Eh, got plenty to choose from anyway.

Also good call about the SSD, almost forgot about those.


And no chance of the machine coming to life and stabbing me in my sleep?
