Whenever I read 'therapist', then i read 'TheRapist'. And then I remember that website: 'therapistfinder.com' and the top message on it: "It's your life ... Treat it well. Find the therapist that is perfect for you."

So much wrongness if you read it wrong.

Anyways, using the standard one.

Therapists get their writing supplies from Pen Island.

I don't use Dwarf Therapist because I find it a bit tedious.

My mind has been shattered by the realization that so many people are playing without any kind of dwarf managing utility.

I made a mod where giant spiders, snake-people, minotaurs, dwarves, and a gnome-like creature were all the same species.  In spite of being radically different sizes, a snake-person and a spider could get married and have a minotaur as a child.
A wonderful love story of a family that is truly without prejudice.

Maybe that's why the forts fall apart more rapidly.  The other day, I was testing out a new fort design and because I was trying to get things done ASAP, I didn't bother with Therapist and just handled stuff manually.  Not particularly difficult with only the original seven, but I didn't bother checking any of the immigrants and just let them haul stuff around.  Didn't get a dining room set up either, because I was building a big centralized 17x17 room that had been channeled out from the surface down 7 z-levels and then roofed over for some cave adaptation prevention.

Anyway, while I was digging it out I goofed up and a miner got killed in a cave-in.  Unfortunately, a young female immigrant who was starting to get friendly with him took it rather poorly.  She was very upset, and the expedition leader failed to console her.  She threw a tantrum and punched him in the brain.  She got her ass hauled off to a quick and dirty jail I set up for her.  But it sparked a mild tantrum spiral which got another dorf killed and crippled my mason who was responsible for engineering a good chunk of the project (it seems you can't get a good tantrum spiral going with only 15 dorfs who've only been around a few months).  Since I was being impatient about this whole thing I just abandoned and reclaimed, because I didn't feel like waiting for the mason to heal, and the expedition leader with the caved in skull was the one that was the initial doctor.

Yeah, the happiness indicator alone is good for spiral prevention. One Fine or Unhappy dwarf in a column of Content or better generally means an encounter with some vermin or some other isolated bad thought that'll go away shortly, but a whole rainbow on the screen? Bad.

The only thing I would consider cheating about Dwarf TheRapist is that it sometimes tells you information you wouldn't have access to normally.  Otherwise, it just does stuff you can do normally; its not really cheating.  I don't use it, but I don't think its cheating.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

I can't even play without Therapist. It just seems like such a hassle to remember which dwarves are supposed to do what.

I don't use it at the moment. Maybe if I can be bothered compiling it for linux or if a repository for Ubuntu 12.04 is set up then I will start using it. I can see why it would be very useful, but I don't really need it.

No Therapist for me unless I start with thirty dwarves, or I completely miss an entire migrant wave. Which doesn't happen. I almost always just assign labors one by one as the dwarves come onto the map, tailoring their skills to their uh skills and personality.
Also, I prefer a starting seven because seven is a cool number.

So, no Therapist unless something goes hilariously wrong.

I dont run my game unless the Therapist has also updated for it. I use Splintermind's nowadays. I dont use the roles function at all, and I dont even know how to, thus using it as the classic version. But I keep a track of this page and find it pleasant how quickly it updates and how much of the quirky stuff gets addressed with each release. I use it because using the default DF labor interface is not my idea of fun. Additionally, and you cant overlook this, the Therapist allows you to set labours without having to halt the game to a stop, per dwarf.

Everyone reading it "The Rapist", please stop. It goes to show where your mind dwells. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and Dwarf Therapist may just mean "DF frontend job manager". Thank you.

Can I vote for "There's more than one?"  because this thread was the first I knew of it.
