(Spoiler) Upright Bluemetal Weapons

Are they always swords?

I'll need help testing this, as it it very slow with just me and a slow laptop mac. To help test, just embark on a 16x16 area, deserts should provide less lag, and take 3 stone and a mechanic. Use one stone to build a mechanic workshop, and the other 2 to make mechanisms. Build a lever with one of these and link lever to Spear/Spike. The weapon should show up.

If just one that isn't a sword is found, the test is over.

Few things:
1. Check immediately if you've embarked on a place with a circus tent by checking your fortress wealth as soon as you embark. Saves time.
2. That being said, technically, the sword is a building that needs to be deconstructed first, so I don't think the sword will come up in the list.
3. I'm pretty sure it's always a sword.

1. 16x16 embark guarantees circus tent
2. If you open the "Link lever to Spear/Spike" dialogue, the weapon will show up.
3. The purpose of this thread is to put that through !!SCIENCE!! My hypothesis is that since there are no special "sword tags" in the weapon raws, the game cannot discriminate when placing weapons in circus tents.

Well then. I'd like to see what you come up with. I don't think you'll find a spear or anything non sword like though, but good luck.

I've searched 2 16x16 embarks so far, found a scimitar and a longsword. I could just keep searching by myself, but other people using the same methods would be faster.

I got an axe once...
Good! I would feel better for a screenshot, though, and/or confirmation that it was in this version. Just to make sure / eliminate variables.

scimitars are swords, or my adventurer is woefully misequipped.

[SKILL:SWORD]
could be used in the same way that
[SKILL:AXE]
is used to determine what can be used to cut down trees.

Doesn't mean it is used that way though.

DF keeps crashing for me on a 16x16, so I did a 16x8 and found a short sword. I'll try a few more times.

I did two more embarks (3 actually, but one didn't have anything because I'm doing 8x16). Both were longswords. So I'm 3 for 3 on swords. I'm headed to bed now.

They are not. I have found longswords, scimitars, two handed swords(awesome, that one), and spears.
