dragon fire is quite effective. So yeah, unkillable. Hmm, unless he walked onto a trap with 10 serrated candy discs...

The one I set on fire with magma was still burning thirty minutes later with no ill effects so they burn forever unless hit by dragonfire.

Actually, since it's based on a Forest Titan, I probably should add TRAP_AVOID. Do Titans have Natural Skill levels?

Eh, other megabeasts do and in for a penny, in for a pound.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And then this happened.

Your only hope is adamantine armoured and armed legendary fighters. And expect casualties, even then.

Your only hope is adamantine steel armoured and armed legendary fighters. And expect casualties, even then.

Adamantine is not very good for blunt-protection. Steel armor is better vs wildlife.

Steel armour, adamantine swords. That's the best bet in that case.
I stand corrected. :p

Dragonfire isn't any more effective than magma as it turns out.

Thirty Grand Master Sword/Armor/Shield dwarves with adamantine helm, breastplate, mail shirt, gauntlets, high boots, greaves, sword, and shield.
Two dwarves with similar set up but steel armor.

Vs.

Two Diamond Behemoths.

Results:

Gore - crippling injury 75% of the time upon contact (severed spine each time), 25% lethal.
Kick -  lethal 97% of time upon contact, minimum launch distance of four tiles. One dwarf survived being kicked once, but not twice.
Push - shattered bone 100% of the time upon contact.

Survivors: One uninjured Diamond Behemoth.

It probably would have been both if the first one hadn't simply spammed webs while the other was actually killing dwarves.

Well, one diamond titan is rare, two is very unlikely to come, let alone together !

How many dwarves full equipped and ready to shut down ONE monster like this one ?

Judging by the results, I'd say 10-15 Legendary Swordsdwarf/Armor user/Shield User in steel armor and wielding adamantine blades and masterpiece shields.

Expect heavy casualties.

Hmmm... You're testing this with 30 Dwarves right?

Now Inarius, how many Dwarves happen to be in your fortress?

I see only one outcome, with one way forward.

I limit myself to 40 adults...so the only way is trapping. Anyway, the probability that this titan comes is 100%, but only for a very very long time. I have the time to die from a lot of other causes before.

Won't this Titan not show up until you have at least 80 Dwarves?

I am launching a big study on titans right now in World-Gen
(glacier titans can live better than hills titans)

Personally, I would attribute that to the decreased likelihood of settlements and activity in frozen polar regions, particularly glaciers.

(even the Star-ruby made titan, who was blown by a human hunter 300 years ago).

Kinky!

I made a mod where giant spiders, snake-people, minotaurs, dwarves, and a gnome-like creature were all the same species.  In spite of being radically different sizes, a snake-person and a spider could get married and have a minotaur as a child.
A wonderful love story of a family that is truly without prejudice.

I honestly don't think worldgen is anything to go on concerning Titan survivability..

Its definitely really random

It really depends on how the titan goes about it; if they just stand back and spray webs, it's a lot easier for dwarves to kill it than if it actually goes on offense.

Yes it's sure that glacier titan survive better because there will fight less.

About the 80 dwarves titans, it's true. I haven't said that i actually HAD this titan, i said that i saw him in legends mode of my world, and asked what to do in case of...

But i think that their survivability is very random. I have seen blob made of water who killed more than 100 people, which is very unlikely to happen.
