It's the year 2356.
The sun has turned into a raging fire, it's precious blue pearl Earth is beset by endless solar flares. Fearing that their planet's end might be near, humanity is finally preparing to set out towards the stars. A gigantic ship is taking form behind the earth, shielded from the merciless solar flares. An undertaking this large has never been seen before. But sadly, it isn't enough. The skies are burning, the oceans are boiling and the project is far from finished, delayed by idiot power struggles between different nations. It is at this time a saviour arises, The United Confederacy. Using merciless force and nuclear weaponry, they seize control over the ship and large parts of Earth. The original plans are discarded, and instead the ship is finished in the quickest way possible. Old stations and ships are confiscated and integrated, entire biodomes are incorporated and what's left is filled with cheap mass produced modules. Barely a year later humanity was ready to leave this planet.
And so they did, saving millions, but living billions behind. As the months became years and years became decennia, parts of the ships started to fail. Food and power became scarcer and scarcer, and the United Confederacy was unable to cope with this, instead prioritizing their own needs. The situation became worse as the days went by, and finally a civil war erupted when the captain died a mysterious accident. So here you are, drifting in a tin can through the endless void, cut off from all external help. You left billions behind already, but will their unvolutunary offer be justified?
But first, which faction do you lead?
The Biodome triumvirate
Holdings: 3 biodomes
Population: Low-Medium
Tech: Well-equiped
Resources: Decent
Bio: The rich and the higher classes live in this dome, toghether with their servants and bodyguards. The domes used to be selfsufficient, but as you moved further from the solar power supply reduced until it was but a trinkle. Now power is supplied from other parts of the ship, but how long will this last. Other limitations might turn up to, as your biodomes food producing systems never were designed to support a large population. While fine for now, the future might bring problems. Your military forces are small but well equiped, and you have a moderate amount of tools, resources and know-how.
A third problem might be the fact that your people have lived in luxury for a long time, and wouldn't like to see this change.
Problems expected:
-Power cuts
-People being unhappy
-Possible food shortage after expansion
-Being overrun
Stowaways()
Holdings: Several Habitation modules, one farm module
Population: High
Tech: Non-existent
Resources: Barely, though they can probably salvage quite a bit from the modules
Bio: Never really suposed to be on this ship, this rather large group of people hid in the cargo rooms untill the security forces retreated. Using the maintenance tunnels, they managed to suprise the remaining guards and take over a decent shunk of the ship. Sadly, while they control a large terretory, it's all in bad shape, and breakdowns will be numerous. Add to this their nonexistant resources and technological expertise, and you got a formula for disaster
Problems expected:
-Breakdown of modules
-Power cuts (The modules have only emergency generators, and none in decent shape)
Crewmen
Holdings: -Crew quarters ship part. (State of the art, and highly defensible) rather small though
Population: average
Tech: Mostly weaponry
Resources: none
Other: Militaristic, and depends on raids of other parts of the ship to supply themselves
Bio: When the captain died an unfortunate death, the Head of Security took over and ordered an all out retreat to the crew quarters. This is a highly defensible and state of the art part of the ship, but sadly without any food supplies. With their supplies running out, they only have one choise, which is to raid or trade with the other factions. Their military is strong and well equiped, but they posses little civilian technologies.
Problems expected:
-Food and resource shortages
Space dogs
Holdings: -Docking bay delta, several small ships
Population: Small
Tech: Good
Weaponry: Decent
Resources: Decent
Bio: When problems arose, these groups of pilots decoupled their ships and took of, waiting out the battle from the safeties of the ship. They forged a loose alliance, and managed to take over a small docking bay. While they are well supplied both in tech, resources and food, they own no means of productions. Once their supplies run out they are done for, and as such they will need to rely on other means of supplies procurement.
Problems expected:
-Fuel shortage, being overrun
-No real assests: No farms, just a small dock. Need to rely trade or raiding.
The ship is a patchwork of different parts. The most common occuring are.
Ship parts: Parts of the originally planned ship. These are rare, but almost always in perfect state and state of the art. They are often very large, as the originally planned ship was supposed to carry 1/6 of the human population
Biodomes: Orbital habitats constructed by the rich. These are often wellmaintained and luxurous, but use way more resources then other things. These are the only places where a normal Earth landscape is slightly mimiced, and as such quite popular above all the steel corridors and such. They are quite hard to find and to keep, but much easier then Original parts.
Space ships: Real spaceships have been incorporated in the design. These are often mediocre in quality, and have a good balance in resources used vs output. One also speculates that with a good team, one might be able to return them to their former status of indepent ships. These range from small fighters to large bulk cargo haulers.
Modules: Cheap mass fabricated modules constructed between the other structures. These are abudant, but generally of low quality, requiring a lot of maintenance. Resource usage is mediocre. The United Confederacy used these to increase the capacity of the ship and to quickly make it functional. These modules often rely on supplies from other part to be able to survive.
Food: Mandatory for human survival. Food will be produced at farms, using energy. (Nutrients are recycled from human waste)
Building materials: Scarce. They only way to get these is to break something else down or by mining a passing planetoid.(Very, very rare in the void of space)
Fuel: Used to propel ships. Rare to get and hard to produce, however, most ships are already (partially) fueled
Energy: Produced by solar power pannels and all types of generators. The one substance upon which all others are based. Only solar power is infinite, but gains from it are small.
Notes: All resources are more or less finite. Being a ship traveling through deep space, there isn't much chance of resupplies. While most resources can be recycled or are abundatly stored on the ship, these should still be managed with care.

Setting is Hard Science fiction, so no warpdrives or lightsabers and such.
The ship is quite large, around 10 km long at least. It holds around a million inhabitants and has quite some time to go before reaching it's destination. Also, it's a generation ship, no cryo(not mass used anyway)
