Most interesting procedurally generated content
« on: June 13, 2012, 03:24:54 pm »

So, I've been playing and lurking for a while.  I've resisted registering because I try to have as small an internet footprint as possible.  This finally made me break down and register.

What about you?  Have you had any interesting encounters with the random number generator?

Taking the name that DF gives to your first forgotten beast as your forum name is most dwarfy my good friend.  Now you need to draw up an avatar based on your fat cyclopean donky.

I still remember the time I got a giant parrot FB and we ate him, and the FB Spider that killed my entire military and was only salin by exploding steam clouds of dwarf blood when I poured magma on it.

If not under Neotemplar look for Vellum.

That second one...  :o You've weaponized blood!

I take my hat off to you sir.

I also just had a human diplomat enter from the surface, hold a meeting, then exit the map via hell.... I guess he thinks he's pretty hardass.

Its a one-eyed ass that leaks poisonous vapors.  This is most certainly not the donkey kind of ass.  They might as well have called it the great brown eye.

Oh, for the love of--"ass" is an archaic term for "donkey," more or less. It's just a poison-breathing, bloated, horned donkey with a cyclopean eye. Get. It. RIGHT!

It's not archaic; Ass is not in very common use because people don't talk about asses a lot.
I really don't get the confusion of ARse and aSS, they are pronunciation very differently.

The most interesting procedurally generated content i've had is the normal spiked toys, rock beds.
Sadly it's so common that Spiked Toys and Lead goblets are my main trade!

We just need to get Toady to embed a Lisp interpreter into DF.  Learning lambda calculus in order to play the game wouldn't make DF's learning curve much steeper.

They are spelled and pronounced identically in American English. "Arse" doesn't exist in American English.

While it's not something that happened in one of my games, I find the legend of Tholtig Momuzidek Lelumdoren, “Tholtig Cryptbrain the Waning Diamonds" to be pretty epic.
