How could they? Victory is something so alien to dwarves they are not about to come up with a verb for it. If they were required to communicate such concept, they might as well say "not losing", though probably followed by "yet".

What dwarves should have words for are "delaying the inevitable defeat" and such. Such phrases absolutely require single word equivalents in Dwarven.

Because death is peaceful and magma is lovely.

The word for win is 'Fiery death'.

The.

It can't be translated to Turkish either. Pretty much every language has words that are untranslatable unless you use it with another word to give it a meaning. You can't just translate them to one or two words so you have to drop a translator's note or try to write a giant sentence that describes what it is.

Take a look at this for example: http://matadornetwork.com/abroad/20-awesomely-untranslatable-words-from-around-the-world/
Dwarves, or at the very least elves really need a word for toska.

The word for 'win' is 'checkerboard'.

Forge
Shard
Mason
Booze
Mug
Miner
Magma
No seriously, what do they call the centerpiece of all dorf technology?

Probably some cobbled compounds.

Metal-crush's work - kelomducim - forge
Smallbreakjewel - estokabistrath - shard
Stoneman- lamudos for male, lamaral for female - mason (m/f)
Water - arel - booze
Waterkeg - arelemtan - cup
Stonebreaker - lamokab - miner
Earthblood - bernazush - magma.

The translations are more or less accurate.

I am now always calling magma 'Earthblood' in my mind. Thank you.

No problem! I figured it makes sense, the dwarves'd think of it as blood.

And spill it haphazardly across the surface (and the fortress) with nearly the same frequency!

It just feels natural for them... "Its blood? Ok, spill it over the fortress, thats where it needs to be"

The only difference is that while magma filling the fortress causes Fun, Fun causes the fortress to fill with blood.

That's actually some good stuff right there. I wonder how long it would take to compile a whole list of common dwarven-English words.
