From what I understand, they were also the exclusive weapon of the shrine maiden. I really don't know much about the history of the weapons, I focused more on using them. Tonfa are a lot of fun. I'm pretty terrible with european great swords, because I quickly become tentative in super close combat, because I don't like to hold the ricasso. At normal distance, I'm okay, but I'm balanced more toward speed than power.

Well, there's real genuine masculinity and femininity that's built into everybody based on genetics.

Like this example: bras are feminine. Men don't have anything to hold up with them.

Then there's the artificial, arbitrary, illogical gender roles made up by our culture.

Example: The skirt. In western culture, men don't wear skirts, with the exception of Scottish men wearing kilts, and even then probably mostly ceremonially. There's no physical reason a skirt would function more appropriately for the female anatomy.

In fact, a little breeze in the summer is that much more satisfying with the extra airflow. ;) I bet that's why they traditionally don't wear anything under a kilt. The nice cool breeze...

I think there are a lot less genuine gender norms/roles than there are arbitrary cultural ones.

Men don't care if their moobs get saggy.

And men with mobs big enough to cause problems like moobs hitting them in the face don't do things that result in that.

If they did, they wouldn't have them.

Wait, wait. Being in control of a mob gives you moobs?

There was a seinfeld episode on that... It was awesome.

He's saying there is no border between masculinity and femininity.

To that I answer: Men can't bare children. Unless they're Arnold Schwarzenegger, and only with horrible movie logic. So there's at least some borders.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

:P Well that would have made sense. I'm not savvy enough to have noticed Darvi may have been replying to the statement of the title.

Or maybe I'm just too sober to understand anything properly. (A situation which is easy to remedy...)

Yet. Give it another generation or two, if that. Medical science, for all the problems it has, is pretty goddamn incredible in many areas, and there's actually a fair amount of money being thrown at that problem.

Personally can't wait until we have viable iron wombs, m'self, and a solid way to maintain genetic viability without the Y chromosome. The less biological dependancies we have, the better prepared for certain sorts of hardships our species is.
