The whole universe is made of dirt. At least, everyplace where it's not crushingly empty void, which is really not helping to cheer you up. Scrawling "symbols" in "dirt" would be like throwing "matter" "someplace." Actually, it'd literally be that, but replace "throwing" with "shifting ever so slightly."

The first thing is first- in order to establish something meaningful, we are going to have to establish conflict. The universe is orderly, but stagnant. It lacks the interplay of forces that will ultimately give rise to the roots of conflict; it lacks CHAOS.

Using our presumed quasi-omnipotence, we should begin by converting the various generic balls of dirt and plasma into molten holocausts, frigid comets, and fiery novas, then proceed to smash them into one another in a  fit of reckless impulse..!

This is just your Omnitool. It's a device of untold power, capable of blah blah blah. You'd hoped creating a single, powerful device capable of just about any non-specialized project would help give you some purpose.

On the bright side, it is more convenient than running between labs or whatever, assuming you ever find something to do in the first place.
