I made a creature that was entirely eyes, at the request of an Escaped Lunatic, as a watchdog creature. Basically defined its own body that was a simple upper body, lower body, hands, feet and head, all made out of eyes.

Stab its eyefoot out? No problem, it has another eyefoot. And eyehands.
And eyebody. And eyehead. They started with [CAN_LEARN][SLOW_LEARNER]and [SKILL_INNATE:SITUATIONAL_AWARENESS:10] iirc.

Love the burst story and the mushroom explosion! :)

(And one reason why I enjoy this game and this forum is that unlike in many other places on the 'net, failures and screwups don't get you insulted but are considered entertainment worth sharing.)

One day I was bored, so I decided to mod M60s into DF. I also modded in custom bullets. However, I went a little over the top. The bullets and M60s when made out of featherwood, could still blow off limbs and send creatures flying. I modded bronze colossi to be made out of steel and have a ridiculous body size. They still got blown to pieces. Nothing could beat a steel colossus armed with an M60 other than another steel colossus with an M60. The bullets would basically ignore armour too.

Protip: When installing Lofn's Tanning Mod, always double-check which creature variations you've applied. Otherwise, well...

Though I do kinda want to see what a cat would look like if it had scales instead of skin.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

...well, the cats apparently still had hair, so the second one is probably more accurate.

bone bushes that is so epic i might make that an evil plant.

Umm... bone bushes. I think I'll do it.

Well, I'll be damned. I didn't expect the idea to catch.
...if you do make it work, could you share the raws?
Was your Idea, I will need some time to get to the "evil" plants part of my Mod. Saddly i know there is No way to make Bone/Ivory work as planned, since those materials have to be a BODY_COMPONET aka CORPSEPIECE and there is no way to do that without crashing the game altho a harvestable evil plant that can be milled into flux would be cool.

Can't you just define a plant material from the bone template?
It will count as BONE yes, but since there is no why to make that BONE material be CORPSEPIECE (as CORPSEPIECE items are only created on butcher) the craftshop will simply ignore it.

Bloody hell.

My original intention was to make additional plants only found in deeper caverns. As it is now, you can buy seeds for all the underground plants on embark. There is also a great lack of plants that can grow in winter - underground, at least, as much as it doesn't make sense.
The plants I modded in could be found only deep underground, like goblin-caps, nether-caps, tunnel tubes and all other colorful 'trees'.

WARK!

EDIT:

Add a reaction with this product to the Farmer's Workshop?

I added [BODY:EYE] in a caste of a creature that already had a body defined on the creature level, but it wasn't by mistake.

Been trying to get the hang of Domestic Creature modding. I added two things -

1 - A bird, twice the size of Dwarves in every dimension, that lays eggs, can be milked, and sheared.

2 - Giant Lions as pets.

Well, the massive birds worked, but I soon realized that I was playing as Humans. Still don't know how it happened, but replicating the Giant Lions from the Savage Tropical list, then adding in the right tags to make them pets, somehow also swapped out the Dwarves for Humans.

I did a bit of SCIENCE (once !!SCIENCE!!, when I brought prepared fire snake on embark) about duped raws. It seems that every creature after the duped one moves down one critter in the raws. Since humans are right after dwarves, humans replaced dwarves. Also, kobolds replaced goblins, elves replaced humans, and fortress defense races replaced each other.

...I'd still like to see the bursts.
