Maybe the players would be the head of one of the factions? Seems like hard (realistic) sci fi seems to be popular.

The multi GM idea was to promote longevity, mostly. But the styles will be fun to watch also.

Well as far as I can predict myself, I'll probably make it overly complicated.

Hell, we could even try to do a perspective shift, we're each Gm controls a different faction (To complicated, also doesn't work with one turn each)

Speedo be damned.

Although I could fit a Speedo into anything, I'm much more into historical burning crotches at the moment.

Tentative interest.

So should I put up a poll for setting, and then we can move on to character?

As for the style of the game itself, I was thinking that players could suggest just general actions, DF style.  Like, Build 2 Factories to increase tinfoil hat production.  The inhabitants of the ship would then do it.  The multiple faction thing seems interesting, if hard to keep track of.

Having a fortress-style suggestion game would be fun. With suggestion-based control of a faction in the ship.

So, not from the perspective of an almighty all-seeing entity?  Alright.  It would be easy enough to put up a poll of each faction.

I was thinking of the players controlling a single faction, vying for control of the ship.

Yeah, that's what I meant.  At the start of the game, the first GM posts a poll containing the names of all the factions.  Whichever faction gets voted most is played as by all the suggesters for the rest of the game.

I'm all for that. Don't start with very powerfull factions though, as that will rapidly get dull.

What faction should we offer the players? We could inspire ourself from Alpa Centauri, or just invent some.

Don't forget to take their current assests into account to. A faction living in one of the domes would be radicaly different then those in the habitation modules.

Let's collaborate to make entirely new factions!  Must be a majority vote for the faction to pass.

I was thinking one turn rotations, but we could discuss another schedule if that was desired.

I would suggest that all GMs can act at any time. This way you minimize downtime waiting for any specific GM to next log on. When creating the thread, have the various GMs post right away on the first page. The OP then edits his post to include links to those first posts from each of the GMs. If the OP suddenly vanishes, the opening post still has links to all the GM posts, and those GMs can edit those posts at any time. if the game loses more GMs, you still have the remaining ones.

Finally, depending on the nature of the game and how long it takes to process turns, if it's necessary to reduce duplication of effort, any GM who is on and processing turns can post to the thread announcing that they're doing, and to please wait...then edit that post when they're done to include the actual turn information. That way, no GM logs on, and starts processing turns only to find that some other GM ninjad him before he could post.
