I approve of all currently suggested names for ships. :)

Can we get a navy status? What ships/classes/names we got?

Modernize the military so that we may seize the colonies and homeland of our ancestral Siss enemies.

I'm not sure a warlike path is the best. As Dwarves, our destiny should be to shower the world in an endless flow of useless trade goods. Is there a way to take over colonies in the same way the Sissian took over Yubah? We should make cuts in the army (keep the navy to protect our shores) and try to take over some colonies.

In DF, the only reason other civs aren't being either trampled underfoot or enslaved in some sort of birthing chamber to have their children harvested is the fact that we're not on the Army Arc yet.

Besides, with no minor nations remaining, making useless trade goods i.e. Hardware is no longer profitable.

I vote for "The Throbbing Invasion". If only to reference previous boating experiences.

Which is why we need colonies that'll serve as market for our goods. Which leave the question open: can we, or not, take over something by peaceful means?

Also, what is our relative navy power? We may be behind in army power, but seizing those Siss provinces near to Frazlberg (which is our ally) should be quite easy if we can prevent them from landing more troops.

According to wikipedia, Frazlberg will have to help us and declare war on Siss, or face a penatly. We should attack those province as soon as possible!

We should make cuts in the army (keep the navy to protect our shores) and try to take over some colonies.

In this game, you NEVER do this, because the other major nations are quick to jump on anyone that is militarily weak.  So cutting our army would basically guarantee that we die.

Which is why we need colonies that'll serve as market for our goods. Which leave the question open: can we, or not, take over something by peaceful means?

I'm afraid that time is past.  All of the minor nations have become too dominated by the major nations for us to continue to do business with them.  We can now only trade with the other major powers, and at this stage they only buy arms, raw materials, or possibly horses if any major nation doesn't have horses natively.

As new General (I hope) of the Uristian military, I pledge my support for defensive military action while we expand our nation's supply route and manufacturing capability.

I was playing this this morning. It crashed(I hope the game autosaves)...

Anyways. If it wasn't for Yubah submitting to Siss, and them submitting to Uristia instead, you could have removed their land purchases by ordering a colony boycott.

Also note that if you conquer a minor nation's captial(or even a Great Power's capital), their market still exists, and should buy only from you. Therefore, peaceful means aren't neccessary for economic growth.

Therefore, kill them and take their stuff. Then sell it back to them without subsidy.

Yup, the version I found on the site-that-should-not-be-linked seems to crash whenever I look at the zoomed-out map.

Also, this game may be simple, but it ain't easy. Even on easy difficulty, I can't seem to win. I always end up outclassed by other major power, then a couple of them (often my allies) gang up on me, and then everything is lost...

Tell me about it. I've had a couple of games where everything is going swimmingly, lots of steel production, and then I suddenly get attacked by three different powers before I can build up my forces. Stupid cheating AI...

Marvelous to hear so many worthy ideas for our forthcoming gunboats.  Your suggestions have been duly noted!

EuchreJack:  Yes, we still are allied with not one, but two major powers - Fratzlerg and Siss.  I agree, the smell of war brewing between the major powers is unmistakeable.  Simply put, things are arriving at the point where you cannot gain anything for yourself without stepping on someoneīs toes.  Savages aside, of course, whoīs grungy calloused toes we cannot be bothered with.

I hereby appoint an accomplished senior officer, one Ehndras, from the Oleikale campaign as our second general.

For the Admiral, a current manifest of our complete navy:
  • The Mountainhome, frigate, patrolling northwest coast of Uristia
The Ironblood, frigate, patrolling west coast of Uristia
  • The Hammerer, frigate, patrolling eastern Penian seaboard and the strait
The Toady One, Ship of the Line, accompanying
The Jarod Cain, Ship of the Line, (flagship), accompanying
  • The Nist Akath, Ship of the Line, at dock in Uristia City
The Oleikale, Ship of the Line, at dock in Uristia City
  • The Pride of Uristia, Ship of the Line, patrolling sea between Oleikale and Uristia
The Bay Watcher, Ship of the Line, accompanying
  • The Enforcer, Ship of the Line, patrolling western Oleikale coastline
    The Lightfoot, Raider (steamer), accompanying

I have been weighing the cogent advice murmuring from within the Halls of Power.  Seems that most favor an immediate modernization of the military, and then poising for an attack on Siss - either their far flung northern colonies or perhaps to retake Yubah, which is rightfully ours anyway, if I understand correctly.

I will try and get an update posted when I can get the time.
