WazHack - Platformer Roguelike Game

I stumbled across this a while ago and forgot about it before I tried it, and just today noticed an update on Roguebasin, and then watched a few videos and decided to try it out. It is amazing.

WazHack is a platformer roguelike. To many people, this may sound like an impossible genre, but it actually works out quite nicely. The game is turn-based, but turns are fractions of seconds. When you move, the enemies move as well. The game is loosely based on Nethack, and features tons of equipment, weapons, potions, wands, scrolls, and spellbooks. It also has beautiful 3D graphics that really add to the experience.

The game is currently in beta testing, and free to play for the first ~800 feet of the dungeon (pretty long, actually. A lot of my games don't get there), at which point Waz jumps out and attacks you if you deny his offer to buy a guild membership for $2. The game is super reasonably priced (I bought it the first time I ran into Waz), and a ton of fun.

In return for purchasing the full version, you unlock a few neat things, in addition to the complete dungeon. You can play multiplayer (sort of, you all share the same dungeon, and can trade with each other, but you have different instances of monsters and items), you can explore extra dungeon branches, and you can vote on and wish for (no really, you use a Djinn wish to suggest features) new features.

Whoops, sorry for the double post, but I added a link to the first post.

Also, if you purchase it and would like, I can add your account to the first post so you can have Bay12ers add you as guild friends. If you PM me I can give you mine, it is an email address so I'd rather not post it in public.

The creator is very helpful and friendly, I asked if it'd be possible to change the email on my account and he did so within 24 hours. He is pretty active on the Reddit for the game, and responds to most of the stuff there.

Still having fun with this, although I still have no clue what to wish for, really. Been trying the default Nethack cool stuff (Silver/Gray Dragon Scale Mail, Excalibur) and most of it has worked, thankfully.

Wazhack is great, although for some reason I enjoy Red Rogue (a VERY similar game) better. It doesn't have as much depth, though.

Just played for a while, pretty neat game. Does it have a thread here? Because it totally should! After a bit I started playing with the debug features, made myself basically invincible, but died when throwing a rune of XP at a monster. Roguelikes: Impossible to Win When You Control The Game!

Started, and died to the second goblin because I couldn't hit him. I'll give it another chance later though, this looks pretty cool, RNG aside.

Were you a magic user hitting with a staff?

Just in case, I've added a tutorial message for this: You are totally unskilled at attacking with your staff. Be careful while you "practice".

Mages need to be a bit careful until they get used to using their staff in melee. If in doubt, use your wand/spellbook/potions. These fellows are nerds from the Academy, not seasoned fighters or game hunters.

This game needs gamma correction badly!

I don't know if that's even possible.

Is this Html5?

It's a plugin called Unity. That screenshot is a bit old though, I believe, it was one of the official ones, so I'd look at the actual game first...I haven't noticed anything off but I really am not the one to ask about those things.

Nope, I was a knight. Just really bad luck.

Gamma-adjustment is a post processor thing, like blurryness.

It will make all of the lighting effects look fantastic.

They start with a wand. The female classes start with a book instead.
