there were some lag issues in some previous releases, linked to idling gnomes and non reachable items; which versions are you on?

One important thing to note is that Gnomoria handles lower populations better.  In DF, you might be taking in dwarves by the dozen and burying them daily, but in Gnomoria you'll get 9 in one season and that'll be a large influx.  Game speed moves a lot slower, with an active day/night cycle and you get a lot more done in one season than in DF.

So, no, it doesn't handle large populations as well as DF does, but for the most part you won't really want a large population.  40 is a very stable gnome fort.

This is actually pretty damn fun. He definitely took a lot from DF, but It's just one of those things you can't avoid if you develop such interesting and fun concepts like Toady has.

And to be honest, I've always harbored a dirty urge to play a DF-like that looked like Stonesense. :-X

While I will stick with DF(mostly for adventure mode) and Goblin Camp, I respect what you are doing and hope that this game can move beyond getting slapped with, "DF clone" at first glance.

First i would like to say that i tried this game and i really like it. However the main problem with DF clones like these is that they are cloning CURRENT DF and not FUTURE DF. While now it is similar (albeit a bit less complicated) in five years time Toady will add a bunch of cool features which will leave other games like these in the dust.

That's true. In a perfect world the Gnomoria dev would hopefully start adding on unique content and start going in it's own direction to keep some luster and longevity.

Whether that will actually happen or not, we're just gonna have to wait and see. :-\

Gnomoria is available now at Indie Game Stand, you can pay whatever you want. Pay $1 or more to get a desura key.

Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

Follow the link in the email to the indie-something, there you can request a desura code.
copy that code, and make a desura account, dl desura and click on the topleft blue icon.
select tools and activate game or cd key. paste the key and you are done.

Also, i just had a gamebreaking bug... over half my gnomes decided to stand around the same spot, not taking order, just standing there dying of thirst, for no reason. they had access to the rest of the fort, and would not even take an order to dig right next to them.

There still exists pathing bugs.  One of the biggest, which was allegedly fixes, was that if you used the "replace wall" command, gnomes would try to path through the wall and get stuck on it.
