The game has been live(alpha) for a couple of weeks. I think some of the expectations are a bit ridiculous given the amount of information available on the game.

i'm not angry at the dev or in any way butthurt. tis just that i bought it on an impulse when i really shouldn't have, and then realised i got very little out of it since i had it all and much more already for free. maybe it will pay off in the long run and it'll evolve to be an awesome game, but in that case i should have held off buying it for when my financial situation improved, or for the game to get to a point where it has anything to give me that df doesnt offer already.

-unfriendly things-
You're trying to play DF when you play Gnomoria.  Don't try and make it into a game that it's not.  It handles like an entirely different game, even if a lot of the themes are the same, the balances and structure are all different.

Although you're right.  If you're trying to play DF, you'll have more fun playing DF.

I would like to second the thought that the mouse-menu system is frustrating. It should work that if you click on a menu item the sub menu won't go away when you move the mouse off the menu item (if that makes sense).

When I click something in a menu I almost always move directly to the sub-menu item I want. It sucks when that diagonal move closes my submenu.

I'd also like to see hot keys, that would be very helpful.

Just a note, that you can use arrow keys to navigate the right click menu, and it's a lot more fluid.

Isn't there any graphical let's play like bronzemurder I can use to captivate people to fortress like games?

I know many that would love a df but are daunted by the interface.

Also, what kind of megaproject are you doing here? I'm usually short on iron and manpower so by the time I get some stuff built gobbo come with iron and slaughter the copper militia

I'm short on save integrity.  My GOOD fort crashes 2 seconds after I load it.  I was working on a solid tower, a normal blocky rectangle, but it would have a pair of metal support trusses off the side supporting a large flat platform that would be my Great Hall, a large open-air platform adorned with all the expensive bits as well as mechanical tinkering designs.

I bought this, it is pretty good.  A lot of the bugs I have heard about have been fixed.  There are some new bugs, but its a great game!  df is just not aesthetically pleasing to me, and i was able to figure out the isometric view pretty quick.

If I can have a fortress with 1000 Gnomes without any frame issues this could have at least one advantage on DF. Can I?

i doubt it. this is quite heavier than df in low populations, never seen it handle large populations, maybe they don't hit performance as much, but in the early game, df flies by this guy

I've yet to have more than 60 Gnomes in the game, but it does not bog down on my system.

i mean it lags in my computer at a much lower population than df. i can play with 150 dwarves at 40 fps in the same computer

Do you have a dedicated graphics card, non intel integrated crap?
