This game looks nice. Are we gonna have to watch out for gnomeblight though?
Dwarfblight should be a small easter egg.

I thought Gnomoria was easy and a nice change of pace from Dwarf Fortress. Then golems happened. Everywhere. Dirt golems, clay golems, stone golems and dead gnomes everywhere.

Yep.  Despite all appearances, there is still massive options for death and dismemberment.  Additionally: 1: Gnomoria offers something like DF where tissues stack in layers and damage is done per-part.  This extends a bit and severed limbs are possible, even common.  2: Any creature in combat without a weapon will grab a nearby item to assist their fight.

My gnomes regularly get ambushed by golems, get an arm lopped off, and then pick up their own arm to bash the enemy golem.

Golems are easy. Named Golems are death. Lost 29 Gnomes to one.

Any goblin or golem becomes named when it kills 2-3 gnomes.  So yes, named golems are dangerous, but only because they were already dangerous :P

It seems like they grow in power when they get named. Could be wrong, as I haven't dug in the raws.

It's all closed, no raws to trawl though, but you can always take less than polite measures I guess.

Either way I think they're just strong.  They're named because they are strong, not the other way around.

Thanks for clearing that up! It's funny that Goblins have posed no challenge at all.

The will.  I had 5 guys taking care of my entrance, and then one goblin wearing iron shows up and just wipes them all out.  It was embarassing.

I finally have a map with enough iron to kit out my gnomes in proper armor instead of silver or copper.

Iron seems a little useless when it's so easy to make steel.  Just add coal!

What... fixing?  That sorta like "Did they fix that DF uses squares?"  What are you talking about? D:

Play the demo though.  Do it.  The practice will do you good, RoboB0b is letting me host a competition to give out 10 copies and it's gonna be based on your construction skills.  I'm gonna announce it on the Gnomoria forums in the morning, so you get a (marginal) head start!

UPDATE to 0.8.3!

"General:
Peaceful mode option when creating a new world
Underground enemies no longer spawn in areas that don't have access to gnomes (ie no surprise monster closets)
   Temporarily disabled rain
Right click cancels selection. Clicking again cancels action.
Holding shift while selecting locks the selection to the same plane
Dig ramp down selection is always locked to the same plane
   Reduced audio file size

Art:
Added item tiles for pickaxe, felling axe, sword, hand axe, hammer and shield
Added equipped shield and hand axe
Added wood door, stone door, bandage, statuette and commemorative coin tiles
   Updated wheat and strawberry

Bug Fixes:
Crash on alt tab and other windows drawing on top of the game window
Crash when a goblin dodges a trap
Crash when characters are missing in text
Crash with loading equipped items and resaving
Crash trying to butcher corpses that have decayed
Conflict when generating new nav graph IDs after loading a game
Bug when loading items that were created from butchering
Gnomes trying to use items they didn't have access to and no longer working
Items sometimes being on a different cell than it thinks
Digging stairs down on top of a mine job eventually mined out the stairs
Spawning golems of all material types instead of 1 random

Oh my, golems.  No wonder everyone was having problems.  It was spawning 7 stone golems at once everytime it wanted to spawn 1.  Similarly, it was spawning both clay and dirt when it should have spawned one or the other.  Those fixes combined with not spawning golems in areas that don't have access should help venturing down in the depths a bit.  Also, it felt like as good a time as any to add in peaceful mode for those who would just rather not bother altogether."
