If all instances of the letter N are replaced by the letters GN, I will be very interested.

I'm intrigued so far. I can't quite place why, but the graphics kind of bother me for some reason though (and I'm generally quite favorable on the pixel look). It might be because they look too busy for my taste.

As for calling it a DF-like, or a rip-off of DF, I don't have a problem with that. I find it a convenient way to give a quick description. It says nothing about the superiority of one or the other.

Only if we get a tutorial gnome whose name is Hangk. (Bonus points if he's missing an arm.)

I have nothing wrong with games trying to be like other games. I certainly have a long list of discontinued series I'd love to see someone copy competently.

The question is if they can do better or have their own niche.

as for "untapped potential" I don't know about that. What is its potential exactly?

Gnomes? Really? Does anyone even like gnomes? How about ratmen that live under a sewer of a large town?

... Mostly the potential to go in a different direction since it's in its fairly early stages.

The developer stated in reddit that its very close to being finished, in terms of gameplay mechanics atleast.

And who the hell wants to play as gnomes?

Also I hope it will be moddable (due to quote). The news site said something about draining a lake, so water simulation? Water simulation is always Fun.

Yah, wow. Normally I wouldn't be the one to shout "omg, this is copying" but I tried the demo and I was shocked at just how much of a clone this is of Dwarf Fortress. The worst thing, aside from the blatant copying, is the fact that DF has a superior interface. I mean, if you're going to make a DF clone, at least make it easier to use.

Especially lolworthy: name generation, professions and the military screen are -exactly- like DF.

Yea, just from the screenshots I can tell its taking a lot of pages from DF, but hey, the game looks kinda neat.

I don't have any problem with them making a graphical poormans clone of DF, what I do have a problem with is their piss poor handling of Z levels where you can't tell if you are digging in the right place or not. Also, the decision making AI is far too slow.

Gnomonia looks pretty good to me. Dwarf Fortress is the king yet having other games that are inspired "clones" of DF is sweet. Goblin Camp is also another example but Gnomonia's interface is kinda neat if you ask me.
