LFR succession fort
« on: June 08, 2012, 03:41:47 am »

Anyone here that would like to sign up for a LFR mod succession fort?

http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=84186.msg3351395#msg3351395

Please note your interest by post or PM to me. I am extremely active and is not the type of guy to be distrupted by RL when I administrate something online.

I would also like to hear thoughts about what we would should try to achieve, and what type of enemies should be active.

Those are the toughest enemies by far. I think we should try to get at least five people before we start this amazing adventure. Any other takers?

Pan will be a great addition!
Two more and this amazing rendition of LFR can begin.
I will roll a dice (digitally) to decide who gets the first round.

Thanks! Just thought that in order to have attracted people, 'LFR Succession Fort' probably needed some more creativity.

So, is this just going to be a succession fort? If there is not enough people, can there be resuccession of the same players?

Yes that was what I thought it would be since LFR is smaller than mainstream DF anyways, and attract us above-average looking and very above average intelligent people as yourself and me.

We can use this thread to flesh it out a bit as well. I'm more of a go-along than plan-along type of dwarf

So far:

- Repeating succession fort (2nded)
- Shedim and voidwalkers active (2nded)

I also suggest:
- Forced beekeeping!
- Metal instruments produced every year!
- A 3x3 room with terrariums dedicated to vermin!

Basically LFR has two new tech trees (religious and technological) and a lot of other new content. It adds a lot of mini-goals for your industry. You'll  be trying to amass jumps in spiritual and technological advances through workshops and reactions dependent on each other. LFR to me is non-distruptive to the core DF gameplay which is to amass as much fat as you can before you go down. It adds two new sieging/ambushing races of importance, the shedim and the voidwalkers which have a lot of castes and special abilities.

I'm going to suggest that anyone that feels they are writing savvy initiates the save, and if we are all chimps when confronted with a keyboard then I would suggest that IronTomato takes the first watch since he obviously will not be as sneaky when it comes to rapid advancement and will have that joyous virgin-savoring experience from LFR.

Another idea would be to split the fort in two where one part of the fort focuses on the mechanical advances and the other on the temples.

Will we include the other races as well? Bog trolls (barbarian trolls) and nephilim (steel clad angel legionaries)?

Nephilim serve their purpose as traders and possible steel farm later on?, but lizardmen has always struck me as too generic a enemy, and too easy to defeat once you have any kind of military. A big bog troll siege is nothing to scoff at

I suppose. Though lizardmen can swim. But then again, they do not charge your fortress, so the swimming isn't as useful then.

Bog trolls are deadly. Keep them.

Keep the vanilla races, too. I like them.

How should mineral scarcity be? I reckon it should be as LFR suggests?

I'd like to have taken the first turn, but if Irontomato wishes to try, then sure.

At pre-posting stage I thought of just rolling a dice really, I dont mind either of you starting. I think its a lot of more exciting to see how another player digs & designs as I tend to follow the same patterns in my forts so I have no need to be first!

Denis and Iron, do you have any input?

His mood doesn't suggest offense. I took it as a joke :D

Anyway, I guess I'll take first watch then. I'll generate a world.

EDIT: When you're ok with that.
