Does this mean he's whacked his dwarven comrades in training with his cloak so many times that he's grown attached to it as a weapon?

Does this also mean it's possible to get clothing named like a weapon?

That means hes been through so much with it, he will never let it go, ever. He wont drop that cloak even for his family.

it'll still rot away eventually. I've seen it happen a few time when during sparring enough attacks were deflected by a piece of clothing

I think dorfs can get attached to any piece of clothing. Soldiers most often get attached to their weapons and shields though, but the kids who keep barging into the god damn danger room are busy becoming adept dodgers and armor users, all the while getting attached to their cloaks, gloves and whatever.

It's white and looks longer than your average cloak or cape.

Personally I have always considered "growing attached" as the item fusing with the dwarf in some hideous manner. Washing the dwarves every now and then might help but I usually only get results after the dwarf has cleansed its insides and floating facedown and getting nibbled by a carp. :-\

Yep I know what growing attached to a item really means but it is much more entertaining and dwarven this way.

Now you must force him to kill a MB with that cloak.

I'm just going to take you seriously for a second here..

It would be nice if you could assign a specific misc object as a dwarf's weapon...

Imagine a whole squad of legendary misc object users wielding gold statues.

Or reroll the squad name till they're named after something big heavy and hilarious... And equip them with it. "The Bronze Doors"

Screw hammers!

Ah if only...

I once had a dwarf that was unconscious on the floor and getting beaten in the head by an berzerk dwarven child. The only thing that saved his life was his cloth cap, which was deflecting or absorbing most of the damage. After he was rescued and recovered, he got attached to the cap.

The point is that dwarves get attached to tools that they use in combat, both weapons, armor, and shields. It's just that they use the weapon or shield often enough to count, whereas the armor typically doesn't get hit enough to count.

That should be a new type of project, making a rug design in dwarf fortress (With accurate coloring)
