EU Parliament rejects ACTA anti-piracy treaty

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Parliament has overwhelmingly defeated the international ACTA anti-piracy agreement, after fears that it would limit Internet freedom mobilized broad opposition across Europe.

The vote Wednesday was 39 in favor, 478 against, with 165 abstentions.
I would so throw a party for this if my friends weren't all hours away. And if my house wasn't fucking tiny.
I FEEL LIKE CRYING.

WAIT.

I AM CRYING.
I thought you were devoid of emotion :O

Such a landslide decision is great!

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

To be fair, the economy is going to fail. Just not because of piracy.

I believe that would mean pirating the formula and synthesizing them yourself.

I'm certain I can find all the necessary chemicals at the local supermarket in adequate purity. :P

I'm not certain, but I believe that you actually can just order most industrial and medical chemicals and materials. Most people just never have a reason to do so.

Yeah but lets be honest.

If you can make Meth why bother with Aspirin?

I would imagine the penalty for getting caught running a black market aspirin operation is lesser than that of a black market meth operation.

Then again, less profits as well.

...There's no copyright on aspirin anymore though, so you'd probably just be illegally endangering people near you rather than pirating anything :P.

Actually, Bayer owns the copyright on Aspirin.

Well, apparently the mafia in Italy run a huge Olive Oil ring. Profit is profit, after all.

So it's unlikely at this point that the MAFIAA will be able to depend on ISPs to fight their holy war for them, right?  In the case of Cisco (and another link I read the other day accused Linksys as well), it's unfortunately quite clear...

Cisco locks users out of their routers, requires invasive cloud service
