A vampire
No sh*t

Its really not that un-common, happen's all the time, vamp's live longer, so they get a better chance to become king/queen, and they can learn a ton of social skills, .

By the way, in the future, be wary of what you post.

Edit;  I really wasint trying to be rude in any way, just pointing it out. But thats the internet for you, can never know someones tone, etc. Someone joking could sound angry to some one else. No hard feelings :3.

You'd do well to do the same, Waffle. No need to jump on a new guy for making discoveries about the game; pretty sure we've all done it at one point or another. Also vampires rulers are objectively awesome.

Zim, now that you have a vampire, the next step is !!SCIENCE!!. Last time I had a vamp king, I bled it a bit to convert some of the fort and formed him an elite vampire guard. They died just like everyone else when the spring magma floods came, though...

Heh, I'm trying to decide where to stick her. Last vampire I had in this fort, I dropped into the volcano. He sunk all the way to the magma sea and hung around on the bottom for a couple of minutes before dying. Astronaut Vampire found some adamantine.

Hrrm, I haven't tried a vamp army yet. I wonder how they'll fair against the constant human sieges.

Becoming a vampire provides a stat boost, but after that they can't increase anymore, so ye hafta be sure to train your dwarves up before converting them. Also, I think there might still be a problem with them slowing down/getting bad thoughts because they don't drink alcohol anymore, but mine didn't survive nearly long enough to test that =P

There is really only one right thing to do in this situation.

Build her a epic underground castle/pleasure/torture palace and assign all young well bearded dwarfs to it as her harem.

Good to know. Does the boost only affect combat skills or other skills?

Oh man, I've been wondering what to do with my overpopulation of children. I really need to lower the birth cap.

Not skills, stats.  Becoming a vampire causes your strength, agility, and toughness to double, but you can no longer increase any physical stats after that.  It also prevents physical stat rust, however, so they'll never get weaker, either.

The full effects are as follows:
Code: [Select]
[I_EFFECT:ADD_SYNDROME]
[IE_TARGET:A]
[IE_IMMEDIATE]
[IE_ARENA_NAME:Vampire]
[SYNDROME]
[SYN_CLASS:VAMPCURSE]
[CE_ADD_TAG:BLOODSUCKER:NO_AGING:STERILE:NOT_LIVING:NOEXERT:NOPAIN:NOBREATHE:NOSTUN:NONAUSEA:NO_DIZZINESS:NO_FEVERS:PARALYZEIMMUNE:NO_EAT:NO_DRINK:NO_SLEEP:NO_PHYS_ATT_GAIN:NO_PHYS_ATT_RUST:START:0]
[CE_PHYS_ATT_CHANGE:STRENGTH:200:0:AGILITY:200:0:TOUGHNESS:200:0:START:0]
[CE_MATERIAL_FORCE_MULTIPLIER:MAT_MULT:NONE:NONE:1:2]
[CE_BODY_MAT_INTERACTION:MAT_TOKEN:RESERVED_BLOOD:START:0]
[CE:INTERACTION:VAMPIRE_CURSE]
[CE:SYNDROME_TAG:SYN_INGESTED]
[CE:SYNDROME_TAG:SYN_INJECTED]
[CE_DISPLAY_TILE:TILE:165:4:0:0:START:0:CAN_BE_HIDDEN]
[CE_DISPLAY_NAME:NAME:vampire:vampires:vampiric:START:0:CAN_BE_HIDDEN]
[CE_BP_APPEARANCE_MODIFIER:START:0:BP:BY_CATEGORY:TOOTH:APPEARANCE_MODIFIER:LENGTH:150]
[CE:COUNTER_TRIGGER:DRINKING_BLOOD:1:NONE:REQUIRED]

Most relevant are the [CE_ADD_TAG] line, the [CE_PHYS_ATT_CHANGE] line, and the [CE_MATERIAL_FORCE_MULTIPLIER] line.

Also, I think not double-posting is generally appreciated.  Use the edit button if you realize there's something else you want to add and nobody else has posted in the meantime.

In previous versions, this could be gotten around by adding a syndrome to dwarven blood that had the effect of removing the 'no drink' tag from any creature that ingested it. I don't know whether or not the underlying bug has been fixed, but adding the relevant lines to the dwarf raws isn't going to do any harm in fortress mode.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I did a double-take on the title for this exact reason.
