Auto Syndromes?
« on: June 07, 2012, 01:35:31 pm »

Is it possible to use something like [SECRETES] and a syndrome that adds [CRAZED] after 5 years in a dwarf, so your dwarves kill each other in 5 years? Also, I gave my dwarves fat for blood, it didn't seem to do much.

yes you make the crazed syndrome have a five year long START and no END

403200 * 5

START:2016000]

if you like you can make a simple interaction that only can be used once and only affects the dwarf/caste

Yeah, I was wondering about the amount of time units.

you can Wiki "TIME" and get that, But if you have what a year is you can do the math

1 year
12 months
30 days

403200/1 = 403200 - 1 year
403200/12 = 33600 - 1 month
33600/30 =  1120 - 1 day

According to the wiki, one DF month is 28 days.

You thought wrong, then - months in Dwarf Fortress have always been 28 days long. If you ever did see a day greater than 28, then it was a bug.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Actually, I think I wanted to know how to make automatic self-induced syndromes.

Secreting a contact-syndrome fluid that only affects dwarves of that caste.

Secretions are so old school why not use interactions?

There's more then one way to skin a cat. Altho Secreations would have the issue of being washed off and being tracked around. Interactions are alot more cleaner.
