I really miss driving around the island with my dad. We'd aimlessly drive, over the downs, down the beach.. into Newport and its annoying roundabout system. Sometimes all the way over to freshwater, military road, but not often. We'd listen to Dire Straits, Blondie and 10cc. Have a nice little chat. Windows down, taking in the scenes.
These days he doesnt have a car. Its a shame really. Think i'll have him round one day and we'll mess about on google maps, virtually driving around the island.

It feels so warm and lovely, thinking this is what i'll inherit and share with my children one day. My dad isnt even dead yet but im still almost crying with happiness. The great oaf. Our relationship isnt great, parents split at a young age, etc, but it could be so much worse. I love you, dad.

And here i am again in this mean old town.. and youre so far away from me ~
