Sure, they'll have to live out the rest of their lives as shut-ins... but shut-ins with arms!
I played a D&D game once where I was permanently polymorphed into a hawk.  Eventually I had the option of becoming an elf/were-tiger.  Upon that modification the first thing I said was: "I'm normal again!"

That sounds...oddly like Animorphs.

Wereapes must look awesome, they'd probably look like the "missing link" in ape to human evolution.  It's too bad none of the victims got infected.   :(

A bit off-topic, but if one has the entire population of his/her fortress infected with werecurse, do they still count as alive citizens?

Can a player still actually command infected dwarves?  Or are they no longer considered part of the fort?

I think they are just like normal dwarves when they don't turn. Once they turn, they are hostile. Then when they turn back, they are normal again.
I read someone mentioning they make good military, since they can instantly regenerate any injuries (even lost limbs!) every time there's a full moon. Just make sure you have a way to trap them in the barracks for the duration of the full moon.

Are they hostile to each other?

Or does it not matter, since they heal quickly?

Are they hostile to each other?
Werebeasts are only hostile to different were beasts. So as long as all of your military is werewolves they shouldn't attack each other. As for the healing, anything short of death is fully healed so it's not too big of a deal.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Do they transform if they are sleeping/unconscious at the time? Do they wake up if yes?
