Gnomeblight don't affect dwarves.
I know it was to kill gnome assassins pretending to be dwarves. Helmet has problems.

I am having problems with the file. It seems I got a file where the fortress was abandoned, as I cannot continue, only start a new/reclaim fortress in the world.

Yes, on it now, downloading the save.

Edit: Still the same problem; the save you have uploaded contains an abandoned version of the fortress.

I downloaded the file from http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7045 just to check it.  It extracted successfully, making a new directory called "New Murderfarmed" (which I placed under df_linux_3411/data/save).  However, this directory simply won't show up for me in the list of fortresses after I select "Continue Playing".

I thought maybe the space in the directory name might be causing an issue, so I tried renaming the directory to "newmurderfarmed", but it still wouldn't show up.  The same thing also happened when I renamed it to "region2".

Unfortunately, DF isn't producing any errors or warnings or anything, to tell me why it won't list this directory.

I tried running DF under strace, to see what it's doing when it gives up on the directory.  I believe it's looking for a file named "world.sav", which is not present.  There is a file named "world.dat" instead, which isn't present in my other (region1) directory.

Renaming "world.dat" to "world.sav" makes something appear in the list, but it's an error message.  So I don't think that's the solution.

Yes it does. I have never accidentally abandoned a fortress and I apparently don't have any backups with significant progress from my year. Revert the save, everything that transpired this past year happened only in helmet's mind.

I'm trying not to think about it, it's the only thing keeping my from setting everything on fire.

I assume I am supposed to take the save from last year then? Cheer up, I have some ideas how to work in some the things from your year.  ;)

Edit: Alrighty then. Downloaded last years save, hopefully I will finally get my turn started now.

1st Granite 355

I had a dream. A dream of blood, of vampires, of holy inquisition.

It made see the light.

I believe it was a prophesy, a warning of things to come, a sign from our ascended prophet; Broseph Stalin.

I will do his will.

I will take the reins and steer this community through the dark times to come and emerge pure, clean. A farming village for simple peasant dwarfs with simple beliefs. A village where a dwarf is entitled to the sweat of his brow, to where we are no longer subject to the decadence of the mountainhome.

I am hostergaard, and this is the beginning of my fight against the heresy that would corrupt us all.

23 Granite

First things first. To ensure the word of our prophet is followed a certain measure of fear for the word is necessary. I have thus devised and build two pillories attop our old temple so that our criminals and heretics may be shamed and their lowlines may be known to all dwarfs that pass by.

But pillory needs someone to put the vile heretics in them! For this I looked to my visions and created The inquisition, a squad of pious dwarfs that will sniff out and destroy heresy! They are to be cloaked in red to match the crimson fire of our faith! Villains take note and shiver in fear! Your days are numbered!

These are they quarters, on top of the new temple so their are reminded everyday of their holy duty and are ready to defend this sacred ground at a moments notice.

Of course, my most humble (and somewhat cramped, if I may say so) quarter sits at the summit of the temple so I may every day keep an eye out for ANY heresy and meditate most piously on the word of Broseph Stalin.

Of course, I may have to install some windows or something if I want to keep an eye on flock...

As the title seems to say you want new people, I'll sign up for this.
Ideally as an engineer that turns up unwanted, if there are any.
I may need a personal message when it's my turn.
