23rd of Galena

Betelgeuse has stepped down as Overseer. This is unexpected. I'll be taking over the job, apparantly. This is also unexpected, albeit, not unwelcome. New Murderfarm will prosper under my rule.

I have taken upon me the Mantle of Temporary Tyran. My first degree is to buy some weapons of the Human caravan who is in town currently. Betelgeuse will make this happen. I hope.

24th of Galena

Betelgeuse informs me that acquistion of weapons are nigh impossible. We instead buy milk and caged animals. This should make a good addition to the food-stocks.

25th of Galena

In some of our houses, those shared by married couples and lovers, there are two beds. Why is this? Man and wife can share a bed, can they not? I spoke with Wolfwood about this. She agrees. When I mentioned this to Helmet, he grumbled something about arguments. This I cannot understand.

I will think on this.

26th of Galena

There is dissent in this town. Gods knows I will not tolerate dissent in my town. We are in a dire crisis! EVERYTHING needs to be taken seriously! I hereby uplift Wolfwood to my Right Hand, and declare a state of emergency in New Murderfarm. Any family is entitled to ONE BED, and ONE BED only! Lucury leads to laziness, and this I will not tolerate.

Anyone who disagree is free to speak his mind. His concerns will be duly noted.

28th of Galena

We're out of barrels, and drinking supplies are running low. I ordered Wolfwood to put some sense into those responsible. Stardust seemed fined, and the injuries were minor.

29th of Galena

What I want to know is why NO ONE EVER FIGURED OUT TO COOK THE DAMN FOOD WE HAVE IN HUGE QUANTITIES INSTEAD OF EATING IT RAW! IMBECILES! FOOLS! No wonder this is a time of emergency! I hereby decree that NO FOOD MAY BE EATEN RAW! We're civilised Dwarves, not savages!

Uristeamer is told to get to the Kitchen and start cooking.

OOC: Right. Winter turned a bit more fascist than I first envisioned. If this is a problem, please say something about it.

Diary of Sacha [Winter is being murdered by Nerjin in this doodle. A doodle that Sacha doesn't know is very accurate.]

[The writing is frantic and plain. As though Sacha is madder than an elf in a burning forest inhabited by lumber-jacks who literally eat trees whole.]

That BASTARD! I'm going to murder him with my bare armok-damned hands if he doesn't return the second bed! I absolutely refuse to share a bed with that man! No matter what my husband says about emergencies! I will grab Winter by his bloody beard and use him to chop down a tree! I will then use his femur bones to carve a new bed out of the tree! I will make sure he lives to watch me do it! I will further-more decorate the bed with his god-damned teeth!

[The writing becomes loopy and calm]

I think I will discuss this with him darling.

[The writing is angry and plain again.]

You better. He has until the end of the month before I break EVERY SINGLE ARMOK-DAMNED BONE IN HIS BODY WITH HIS OWN GOD DAMNED BED!

Journal of Flamey Paperlines, Galena 28, 352.

It has barely been half a year since I stepped down and already leadership has changed hands twice. I'm enjoying my retirement thus far, but I have to admit I'm a little worried about the effect all these changes will have on the settlement. I'm trying to stay out of it, but it's hard... Like a misspelled list, you just want to correct everything that seems out of place.

For example, Winter has recently moved to remove the second beds from the homes of married dwarves. I don't understand this. Does he expect them to share a single bed? It's not as if we're lacking the resources to make enough furniture for everyone. Still, I don't want to criticize... I'm sure he has some reasoning behind it. Perhaps I'll ask.

More importantly, we're only a few short months away from the projected arrival of my alpacas, which I ordered from the Mountainhomes last fall. I'm not sure how closely Winter has been reading the stockpile reports I've been filing, so maybe I should remind him of that in person. I suppose a breeding pair would suffice, but of course the more the better. Each new alpaca will translate to at least one pair of warm, silky woollen socks per season.

The month and date can be left to the imagination of the unpious.

Betelgeuse has fallen. He got drunk then quit being overseer and tried to wrestle a fish then fell in the river and drowned then a bear ate him and he died of thirst and was murdered by elves while elf-birds stole his clothes. Some of those things were dreams, most things are dreams really-  that's just science.

Is this a dream?

I am not overseer. They did not chose me. I am of experience, I am of skill. The tome chose me. The tome is greater than dwarves, greater than Gods.

This is not a dream.

Dreams are like untrustworthy memories that crawl around in your skull like maggots. Dreams will not lead me astray, I do not sleep and am immune to their schemes.

I am unsure of winter, he has forced Sacha to share a bed with her husband. This may be punishment for sewing my bones together with sheep parts but it also may be to horde beds for some purpose. If he's trying to gnaw them into ballistae then he mustn't know how difficult that is. This means my weapons technology is more advanced than his, if he turns out to be a boar, sorceress, elf-assassin, or figment of my imagination I'll smite him with my holy axe. There will be retribution, The Lord will send us death and fire and they will be punished. And when they are dead and everything has burned I will be alive.

Helmet is still alive. Helmet is still here. Helmet is still watching. Murderfarmed belongs to me.

Limestone:

[By now, Winters journals have stopped being exact in its mention of date and time]

Pot shot down a kobold thief today. 15 bolts were buried in the little vermins body when it finaly expired. Wolfwood reprimended Pot for his excessive use of bolts. Helmet is slow with the barrels. I am on the verge of punishing him, were he not our glorious founder. I'll allow him a second chance.

[sketches of barrels and torture-instruments derived from them]

Helmet created a very nice barrel today. I'll postpone punishment even further.

[further sketches detailing some sort of geometric figure]

I ordered a large patch of wood cut down. I have plans. Grand plans.

[sketches of an unclear construction]

Urdim refuses to cede control with a workshop. It's impossible to get him out of there. Wolfwood spends the night yelling at him.

Ordered someone to construct a small office for me down in the storage facility. Should we become attacked, I am to be considered the most valuable dwarf, and thefore must have adaquate security. There no dissent, but I see anger in their eyes.

Urdim came out of the workshop with a hauntingly beautiful amulet.

The only thing wrong with it is its pictures. They reference the rising of our hated vampire queen. Just looking at it fills me, half with disgust, half with fascination. I have confiscated this artifact, it is too dangerous to leave out in the open.

Sandstone:

The smell of burning wood fills the air. I love that smell. Soon, we'll have several good, hard bricks from which to build my masterpiece.

Due to increased risk and concern for my personal health, I have ordered that no less than FIVE marksmen are to patrol the perimeter. Felcis, Uristeamer, Halt, Betelgeuse and the other probable dissidents have been drafted into the new patrol unit. This should keep their concerns down, and their obidience up. Scoundrels.

Migrants arrived today. Wolfwood questioned them if anyone had any particular skills. One of them announced that he was quite the conversationalist to widespread laughter. He is to be the leader of our second military unit. I call them goblin-fodder in my head. I can't stop laughing.

The world is crumbling. First Betelgeuse goes off the deep end, and shirks his responsibilities. Someone spends hours proclaiming his new world order, then snaps back to normal. Now Helmet is saying he's back in charge.

I think I need to plan myself an escape challenge.

[The date is illegable.]
This is a outrage!  Today, a thief tried to steal from us, and what do I get?  I get yelled at by my wife for using too many bolts!  So what if I used fifteen?  Thats not enough!  I would have kept going if there was anything left to shoot at.  Even better, the Armoked damned overseer can't say my name right!  It is Pon Katt.  He will hear from me about this.

We were trying to decide who would take over for Betelgeuse so I put up the option to pick either the next person in line or one of the people near the end who might not get their turn for a very long time. The joke was that you might die in the waiting line and Daruish might have to eat you because he was almost as far back.

OOC:  Yes my name is Pon Katt, not Pot Katt.  Your not the first the mess up the name, nor the last.  Just saying.  The rant was just to stay IC.

I'm pretty sure Winter could care less about anyone's name by now. Still, apologises.
