Journal of Nerjin [A excellent drawing at the top depicts a drake and goose flying happily above what appears to be an artist representation of Murderfarmed]

12th of Moonstone, 337
We finally have cages within the prison. Still working on getting the houses done and making the warden’s office up to our sheriff’s standards. I’m removing things from their room to make up for the office deficiency. Doors have been attached to most houses. Turns out that we have a drake and a goose. While not immediately helpful I was hoping that maybe future overseers can get some mates for these animals to increase our variety of meat and eggs. I’m proud to say that Stardust did this one all on her own. Well played my friend. Well played.

20th of Moonstone, 337
Well the Crypt was finally completed today. The patchwork roof of clay and wood doesn’t look too bad to me and so I deemed it fine enough. If future overseers wish to work on that it’s there problem now.
Two of the remaining four houses were completed. We just need to add furniture. The other one needs a roof and the final one needs a floor. It’s odd how we work on things here. Oh well we should be finished by the end of winter.

I don’t even care anymore. Another thief came in, got caught in the tavern, and then ran off. They don’t do anything but run away. I’m getting the feeling that they aren’t actually thieves but are more along the lines of pranksters. I don’t find it funny. On good news ALL of the houses I set to be built are built. Now they all need a bed, chair, and table. Only a few need doors. If I get the time before spring I’ll set another house built. I also found that ramps work much better than staircases for building and removal. It looks better without a staircase leading to the top of the house. Just a tip in case anyone reads this thing. I think I’ll tell the others verbally tomorrow.

8th of Opal, 337
I again find myself in apathy towards something today. The sheriff’s office isn’t good enough. Neither is the dining room. You can get over it. There is no crime here. I swear that being sheriff is just a fake position to make Paintbrush feel better about not doing anything. I think I’ll ask Winter the Hammerer to take a look at this little dispute.

13th of Opal, 337
I talked with Broseph Stalin today just prior to him meeting with the outpost liason. We agreed that we need more rock and metal. At least Broseph did after I told convinced him that we didn’t really need anything else because we could provide it for ourselves. Yeah… I’m a pretty smooth negotiator.
Also I’ve ordered on last small house built in what I am calling the “Residential District”. Basically it’s an area where cheap houses are to be built. No walls are shared however. To assist in this I shall say this. Build two houses with just enough space for a ramp between them. Then you can build the roofs easier AND it’ll take less time to get rid of the ramp. I hope the Broseph Stalin is okay with this one. It’d be a shame to have to tear all of this down.

I announced today that the traders announced what they wanted today. I’ll list it here so I don’t forget. I’ll also list how bad they wanted it on a out of 5 scale. As well as the prices.
-Earrings [5/5] 186 urists.
-Handwear [4/5] 168 urists.
-Powder [4/5] 167 urists.
-Pearlash [3/5] 159 urists.
-Seeds [3/5] 152 urists. I wouldn’t give this one away but it’s not my call after next month is up.
-Bracelets [3/5] 145 urists.
-Splints [3/5] 139 urists.
 -Goblets [3/5] 138 urists.
-Amulets [2/5] 130 urists.
-Figurines [2/5]118 urists

I would suggest that we just export a magmaton of wooden crafts. They want all sort of it and will pay 185 urists per EACH earring. But I won’t start on that. I still want to get the last house finished. After that I’ll just wing it.

The last month of my reign. I can’t stand it anymore. I’m still waffling on who will inherit my position. Honestly I don’t care too much.
Well… This is embarrassing. While writing the above I learned that we had no booze… At all. I’ve personally started manning the still for now. I wish we had more people. Specialization makes it easier for everyone.

4th of Obsidian, 337
Tragedy… They found Thorick… Dead of dehydration. I take personal responcibility for this. However I can’t give up just yet. We have some booze in the making. The next overseer should consider making a well of some sort. Some form of well could have prevented Throrick’s demise. I’ll miss that son of a bitch. I’ll save my tears for later however. There are booze to be made. I asked Broseph to take over Thorick’s duties as a wood cutter. He didn’t say no.

8th of Obsidian, 337
Tragedy piles up in winter… Sayak’s wife had a miscarriage today. I think it is because of her dehydration. Most of us are dehydrated. I can only hope that she will continue to brew… Hopefull after she has a drink herself.

13th of Obsidian, 337
A fucking thief! For real this time. Bastards made away with a mitten…
They found Dusty today. Dead. Slumped against the wood furnace. Dehyrdation is the consensus. I’ll definitely be stepping down at the end of the month. I’m not cut out for power.
Broseph Stalin has been very unhappy with me lately. I worry that he’ll start fighting soon. I hope we can avoid any more tragedy.
Paintbrush was found today as well. Slumped against a fallen tree… A real hero. I am sorry.

18th of Obsidian, 337
Booze stores are low and morality is lower. I’m too thirsty to write. I’m going to watch the ice and hope it melts… Even water would be preferable to this.
I swear to Armok if Broseph or Winter say one more thing about how I’ve failed I’m going to beat the hell out of them. ONE! MORE! WORD!

I broke Broseph’s left hand, left floating ribs, and fractured his liver. Now that I’ve calmed down I think that maybe I over-reacted. I hope he recovers.

19th of Obsidian, 337
I talked to Winter today. He threw a rock at me. It turns out that I injured him worse than I thought. I smashed his toe open and broke it, cut open his lower body and cut open his right upper arm. I think I may just lock myself in my room to starve after all of this is over.

24th of Obsidian, 337
Without water Broseph will die. He’s dehydrated already and with my… assault all he can drink is water. The river is still frozen. We need a well within the next year. We have rocks for mechanisms. For now though I will simply tend to the wounded as best I can. They’re not happy with it but I am the only one with medical training so they allow it for now. Broseph looks pissed as hell and I think he may try biting through my neck. I wouldn’t blame him if he did.

25th of Obsidian, 337
The booze are flowing freely now. Everyone except me and the injured rejoice. The three of us pray for spring and water. It is our only hope.

28th of Obsidian, 337
I killed Winter today. It was better than having him in misery.

[The journal was recovered when Nerjin’s body was removed from his room. He locked himself inside after his murder of Winter to die. Any and all attempts to bring him outside were met with violence or dismissal]

[Me as myself talking]
Well that last month sucked. I sincerely apologize to all who died because of my rein. On the bright side we have plenty of houses for migrants if they show up. Just rename people or something I guess. I hope I didn’t screw it up too bad. Seriously though, I put Nerjin into a squad and made him station in his room. Once he’s there wall the bastard in and lock the door. So I look forward to seeing if anyone can pull us out of this. I just wanna say I had fun with this game so far. Now to hope you guys don’t get pissed and kick me off the thread.

This is why I have a whole level dedicated to booze in my fort.

I think I don't even need to brew more, but better safe than sorry.

Dusty's up to bat. I'm also locking the poll and calling it in favor of modding in new features Dusty can pick what he wants to add in.

edit: Also we should probably pay more attention to the gender of dwarves I know I started it but it was confusing and funny to see Winter referred to as being male right after hearing of his miscarriage .

I think he's dead. Can't wait to see how he does this one. I hope this thing doesn't crash and burn too bad.

He can dwarf himself there should be one or two unclaimed migrants lying around. Crashing and burning isn't too bad, we only have one year of non-burning progress so it's not like we'd be losing much if we had to revert. If we lose the whole settlement we can just use my save and say that it was just a nightmare about what would happen if I picked you instead of Dusty as Bookkeeper and Overseer.

Oh my Armok that would be perfect. I'd love to see that journal entry. "I decided NOT to make Nerjin book-keeper... Something tells me it wouldn't end well." but for the most part my reign was pretty good. Got housing sorted out [even more-so now with some extra empties lying around] got farming into a bigger place, AND built an awesome mansion. And there are actually 3 unclaimed I think. Little Led is still there. I hope she stays around for a long time. I've grown attached to the little tyke.

Only thing I'm worried about is migrants, thing about farming forts is that unless you have a cloth industry your created wealth is pitiful so they slowly trickle in.

Yeah I noticed that. We got no one. Although we did have two sort of births. One worked and one didn't... Well we have cloth lying around. So that's okay. Plus like I said make crafts. The dwarvern merchants will pay a LOT for ear-rings. or is that against the rules?

Farming should be the focus but not the only industry. Crafts and folk art are pretty common in rural communities, totally fits with the theme. In fact if we start making charcoal and ash we could sell glazed earthenware crafts.
