Journal of Betelgeuse

2nd Hematite

This morning I found a note left by one of the townspeople, Halt. It says that he heard me talking to myself about the shortage of wood and suggested that I use some of the fire clay in the area. Oddly enough the note is dated back to the beginning of the spring. Apparently I missed it this entire time. Very strange. Anyway I'll have to remember to tell him that I have already fixed the material problem by having a grove of trees north of the river cut down.

3rd Hematite

I have begun construction on my own home, as well as several others for the last homeless among us. I hope that everyone will have a roof above their head by the time summer ends. Murderfarmed doesn't need anyone dying of cold.

4th Hematite
I was poking through the inventory lists today and made a slightly disturbing discovery. Apparently someone made a crown and a scepter out of horse sinew. Sinew! How is that even possible? Its all very strange. I think I'll have them traded to the elves, if for no other reason than to get rid of them.

6th Hematite

Godsdamn elves! The fools just took off today in the middle of a trade! I made them an offer for a trade and they shouted something about proud and beautiful trees. I told them there wasn't any wood in the goods I had offered them, but they simply refused all other trades and left. I'm really quite baffled as to what happened.

9th Hematite

Dumat has finally snapped. This morning he went stark raving mad. I hope he doesn't try to injure anyone. If he does we'll likely have to kill him. Murderfarmed can't take care of a madman. And I don't really know who the military commander is anyway.

24th Hematite

Little has happened the past few weeks. Construction has continued, and we are making good progress. Dumat has been a problem (yet). I hope he continues to be like this. Little else to report.

1st Malachite

Mother Nature has struck again, this time in the form of a bull moose running around in the village. The militia has dealt with it, but it gave everyone quite a scare.

7th Malachite

The walls of my house are finished, as are the floors. All that remains is the roof and the furnishings.

8th Malachite

The carpenters say they have run out of wood for the furniture of my house. This is unacceptable. I have ordered them to chop down every tree necessary to make sure they complete their task. Luckily there are many trees north of the river. They'll do for lumber.

11th Malachite

The craftsdwarves have been raving for three days now about the lack of wood. I have tried to explain to them that more is coming, but they insist on yelling about how they don't have enough logs every few hours.

13th Malachite

The first round of furniture has been completed. It has gone into my house as well as the new houses built around town. Additionally Kivish, Triaxx and Uristeamer's daughter, has turned one today. It is wonderful to see Murderfarmed's next generation growing up well.

18th Malachite

More damn animal attacks. This time a coati. I don't think anyone has been injured, but its only a matter of time. The problem is getting seriously out of hand. I will have to start organizing more hunting parties.

27th Malachite

A large group of migrants arrived today, bringing the population of Murderfarmed to 40. It is  good to see our little town grow like this, but I honestly have no idea how I am going to build houses for them all. I'm ordering more trees chopped down. We're going to need enough wood to make an elf faint for everyone to live comfortably.

3rd Galena

Things have been slow and boring this summer. Just boring enough to justify throwing a party dedicated to a cedar table, which is exactly what Uristeamer did. Od fellow. But I suppose it keeps people entertained.

5th Galena

More hunting parties. This time for a boar that has been wandering around the southern half of town.

7th Galena

A day that shall go down in history as one of unspeakable horror. Even now my hand shakes as I write this. Today Stray Lamb(Tame) was stung by a honeybee. Oh gods, the horror. The horror.]

But the lamb has no were! It is a lamb, not a human. It would haveto be a, uhh... ari-bee? I forget which bit of it would be used. I know that aries is part of the sheep one because Aries. But, uh, yeah.
Reading too much into this.

I'm sorry guys, but I can't finish my turn. There is just too much going on right now. Sorry I was such a terrible overseer. If you need an RP reason for my sudden not-being-there-ness, you can say that I fell in the river and drowned after downing 5 barrels of alcohol after the lamb incident. I'll have the save up soon.

EDIT: DFFD is derping. This may be longer than I had anticipated.

We're at the halfway point of this year so we could either revert, let the next guy have 1.5 turns, give half a turn to one of the guys who've been waiting, or experience the half-year second coming of Helmet. Pointless voting!

1.5 years I would say. I think it'd make the RP a bit more interesting. Have them start off saying "I'll last longer than any over-seer before me." and then if they fail we can have Helmet find a rule from Broseph Stalin stating that only in the MOST ODD of circumstances is that actually allowed.

Right, could Felcit please Dwarf me with the angriest of the new dwarfs?  :P Preferably one with the tag, "in a state of constant internal rage" or something to that effect...

They decided to leave my fortress via the circus because the front door was locked to keep Goblins out.  THAT should be an interesting trip back to the Mountainhome.

I'm sorry guys, but I think I have to pass the torch. The turn comes at a pretty bad time and I think that it would take me too long to read up on everything and finish playing/writing properly.

Well this is quite the pickle isn't it? Are you going to try to contact AW to inform him of this or is he on his own to find out?

I have knew that almost everyone between me and Betel are gonna likely be inactive.

I guess I'll prepare my turn just in case.

Also I want to be taken off the dwarfing list, I have a wayyy better idea...
