Suggestion: Maybe we can go with a larger embark than usual, since we aren't digging down? Would leave more space for farms and whatnot. Although, then we should try to look for a flat area.

It would be nice if there where some fireclay in the embark.

Also, I heard rumors that a long thin embark is far more FPS efficient than a square one.  2x6 for example. But maybe that would look silly. I like the idea of embarking somewhere warm, but we are gonna need a river, sea or lake as the most pools just evaporate in no time.

Oh, and if someone still feel like picking up my monastery idea, feel free to do so, I would love to see it become reality.

They decided to leave my fortress via the circus because the front door was locked to keep Goblins out.  THAT should be an interesting trip back to the Mountainhome.

Winrar is a free program that you should definitely pay for after the trial period to compress and unpack rar files. You can also use 7-zip. Uploading is as simple as clicking upload and following the directions.
I have WinRAR, and I use it to unpack .rar files well after the trial period, and I haven't run into problems. I've actually never used it to compress stuff to .rar files, though.

Yes. Long, skinny embark maps are more FPS-efficient than square maps are. I've heard it means less pathfinding issues, which saves CPU power usage and therefore faster framerates. Perhaps we should embark a long, skinny map along the length of a river section in our embark selection screen.

Failing to buy or delete winrar after the trial period is a violation of the TOS and theft it's not like people are getting arrested for it but it bothers some people.

I suggest to embark in joyous wilds, so that we could brew our own sunshine.
And yes, we need either sea or a river.

In a hole in the ground there lived a dwarf. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a dwarf fortress, and that means magma.

I suggest using www.tugzip.com. Free, better than win rar, does zip, rar, and 7z. Just about anything you can think of.

That save is fucked. "Missing creature definition HIPPO" If it's still working in your game try to reupload it if not we'll have to revert for the new fortress.

Add me on to the end of the dwarfing list. Don't think I want a turn, considering how much Fun my turn was last time (and the fact that I'm about to leave on a vacation).

Well, well, well.

According to how terribly active the people after DeKaFu are it seems that my turn might come faster than I expect.

I hope we're in a hot jungle or whatever now. Animals, at least, are still more FUN than Lady Winter.

I like the idea of having a long thin map that follows a river. Reminds me of old river valley farming civilizations.

EDIT: I still like the monastery idea. I'm gonna try it out during my turn.

EDIT 2: It would be fun to try a map with a river in a desert. We could create a dwarven version of ancient egypt.

Dorf me as Dariush please. Preferably a legendary, otherwise anything wood-related will work. Also I'd like a turn.
