I put a c in your name when I dwarfed you it's fixed on the list.

I've been thinking and there's plenty of mini mods out there adding stuff like sausage, bread, wicker, jams and other assorted things that could add to the farm town experience. Since this is the canonically first dwarven farming town it makes sense that they would be learning new things, what's everybody think of modding in some new farming element every time the fort changes hands?

How badly frowned upon would it be if I were to erase lose a save because of a certain vampire's relocation resulting in the death of a beloved Tavern keeper? Just hypothetically?

You would dare deny us the story of one of our most prominent citizens being killed while stashing a vampire in a secret attic? We will frown SOOOO hard at you! The entire point of a succession fort is that nothing ever goes the way it's supposed to.

Well, I predict a contaminated water vampire shenanigan.
Now that I think of it can I have the save file of this turn and test how an all-vampire village would fare?

Unfortunately my laptop over-heated and I really did lose the save. Just when I wrote out an awesome funeral for the tavern-keeper... But the blood thing may not be too impossible. More on this when I post in a few minutes.

Diary of Nerjin  [A picture of a dwarf skewering a bear while another dwarf cowers and another lies bloodied on the ground is etched into the margins. The cowering dwarf resembles a certain noble while the bloody dwarf seems fine with the blood-loss. A most peculiar picture]

6th of Felsite, 337

I have grown bored of sitting around merely drawing in my journal. I’ve decided to help in the new construction efforts. I have found that a ramp is easier to remove and much less prone to unfortunate accidents than a stair well. Either way we have made some slight progress. One home only awaits a roof. Another two are on their way. With all this wood I am finding it easy to create homes by the bushel. I think our prisoners transfer shall happen any day now. I dreamt that he would murder our Tavern-keeper so as an added precaution I have ordered him NOT to sleep. EVER or at least until Mebuy is safely behind a wooden wall. A small assortment of furniture is all that remains to be added. He may be a vampire but he is none-the-less a citizen of our fair town. I just hope my dream doesn’t come to pass.

BAH! These Giant Thrips are causing so much ruckus. No one is working because of them. It seems that I will gain no rest tonight as I try to shoo them away yet again.

I hope that our fair citizens don’t mind the housing design. I think a sort of apartment complex will do well. While the houses will be sharing at least one wall everyone should have a home before the end of the season.

We need lumber. A LOT! For the project I have in mind we’re going to need nearly a, to put it as I heard an elf say once, “Galaxy full” I’d prefer to liken it to a mountain of wood, but we will need a lot none-the-less. I ordered that every tree on my side of the river cut. Then again I have also asked that some from across the way are cut. Deforestation. I feel like a true dwarf.

A THIEF!!! A goblin was spotted in the Tavern during Mebuy’s transfer! It was just awful. Luckily, despite what he may be, Mebuy leapt to the chance to defend our town… or drink the creature’s blood. However it was him and Tahujdt managed to chase it off… Unfortunately it was not without consequence. Mebuy, in some fit of rage, attacked a Grizzly bear. Whether out of love for Broseph Stalin [Which I doubt considering it was he who trapped Mebuy in the dark recesses of the earth] or for lust of fresh blood I cannot tell. What I can tell is that Mebuy is in bad shape. I shall catalogue the injuries of both of them as best I can. Mebuy I think has the worst of it. Multiple body parts are torn open. His right upper arm, entire left arm, his lower right leg and his right foot. As I hear from legends that these injuries heal once a full moon I am not too worried.

From where I stand the bear didn’t  get away unharmed. Her upper body is bleeding badly. From what I saw of the battle her [I believe it’s a her] right paw is cut open. Both parties have earned minor bruises. However I cannot be for sure as I don’t understand either bear or vampire physiology.

For being bitten and shaken around so much Mebuy is very lucky. I can only say that I don’t want to fight Mebuy. He punched and bit the thing so much that it ran away. I don’t know how long until we get harassed by it again. All I know is that I hope Mebuy is okay. He saved our founder. We all owe him our thanks. I regret that I must place him in confinement.

19th of Felsite, 337

I really don’t want to deal with this… Elves. Elves have come to our settlement [built from wood] and are moving towards our depot [also, of wood] and are trying to sell goods as a bloody vampire limps over towards the warehouse and a injured Grizzly bear roars in pain in the distance. I am only glad that I will not have to speak with them. I’ll give them clay. That’s all they deserve. I don’t care what Broseph Stalin says about trade. Elves are nothing but trouble. Best to buy some wood from them and get them the hell off our door-step.

20th of Felsite, 337

A bizarre game has emerged between Mebuy and the Grizzly. Each will approach the other but immediately retreat when the other gets close. Is… Mebuy stalling? Is he in league with the beast? I am regretting my decision to release him. Never-the-less he is saving us from the grizzly for now so I won’t have a bolt put through his heart, yet. I find myself growing tired of this game he plays with me. I have offered him mercy and he plays cat and mouse with a bear. Rereading this I feel a pang of guilt over my selfishness towards his containment. I just don’t want Sayak’s sacrifice to be in vain. I fear that he will not recover.

21st of Felsite, 337

DAMN IT! Another thief! This one chased off by war dogs. Our elven merchants aren’t happy but they’re safe. In other news Tahujdt has put an end to Mebuy’s antics. As he ran after the goblin thief he killed the Grizzly Bear in ONE BLOW! Piercing the beasts skull as he ran past… in a single fluent motion as if he had practiced it for years. Mebuy must have enchanted that bear somehow to keep it still so long. I have taken to calling Tahujdt “Dr. Badass”

23rd of Felsite, 337

I went to tell Mebuy to suck it up… Turns out he can’t stand… or hold anything. I think I’ll make the new containment cell a room or office for Tehujdt and then I’ll have another ‘house’ built around Mebuy. I’m sure he’ll be fine. Once the full moon happens he’ll be right as rain.

24th of Felsite, 337

That bastard! Hahaha! Sayaks is out and about! I went up to check on him and couldn’t find him. I thought for a moment that he was dead and had been dumped in the river. But nope I found the bastard drinking wine and telling a story on how the falling log had nearly killed him. I was so happy to see him well that I didn’t even mention that it was the fall and not the wood. After all it hit me in the face so I knew it wasn’t too dangerous. I’ve made him my upstairs neighbor and am working on moving some statues up there for him. He seemed to forgive me as far as I could tell. I love that guy. Furthermore I told the elf merchants that we weren’t interested in anything they had. This calls for celebration! I plan on revealing Sayak’s new living arrangements at the party. Won’t he be surprised!

30th of Felsite, 337

Well in review I think this month has went well. I’ve put Mebuy in a new home with a tree inside to give him something to stare at until the full moon rejuvenates him. That is vampires right? I’m pretty sure it is. Either way he won’t be harming anyone. I’m glad my dream has not come true. We have a dead bear near the tavern, the elves look pissed, Sayaks [turns out I’ve spelled his name wrong for the past year or so [my bad] has healed and now has one of the ritzier rooms. The others are having their rooms built as we speak. We could do with more beds, but for now we’re fine. A new Doctor has arrived and is prescribing ass-kickings to all who threaten our settlement. My next order of business is to give Doctor Badass [Tehujdt] a new clinic [prison and office] to work from. Things are looking way up from my first month. I thought for sure it would never get better. I just hope my good luck continues.

Yes, but I needed an in-character motivation for being okay with leaving him in the new containment cell.

Felsite Haven't checked the calendar for some time

I'm not sure whether this business with the bear or the vampire is more unsettling. I'd be much happier if Tahudjt could deal with the latter as deftly as he dealt with the former. Nerjin seems convinced that Mebuy saved me but prescribing intent to the action of a vampire makes no more sense than giving it to the bear. Thusfar Nerjin has succeeded in repairing what he's broken. I also can't say I approve of the attention he's pouring onto Tahudjt, he's fair with a blade but he's no warrior. He has no armor and for as fierce as he is he's still just a potter who happens to carry a blade. Setting him up as some kind of hero is just unwise. If Tahudjt buys into all this hype it's going to get him killed. Still whether I agree with the state of affairs or not I'll clutch my axe as tight as I always have and I'll mind my own backyard.

Scrawled onto a clay wall in  a newly abandoned tomb.
It appears that not everyone in the village is a complete ass. The new overseer, calls himself Nerjin, has apparently had a home constructed for me. A home without a door yes, but a home! He even Saw fit to release me before it was finished!
Carved into a bed, and barely legible,
Why do I continue to trust these fools with my wellbeing! First one threw me in a cave, Second one gets me mauled by a bear! On my way to my new, better home, I saw a grizzly approaching that damn broseph. No way in hell was I letting Some wannabe monster Steal my kills, so I tackled that beast and had a glorious combat with it, SuStaining major injurieS. Now I am bed ridden whilst I wait for my wounds to heal. Once I can Stand, I will begin a new training regimen, as it won’t do for a former general to be So easily bested by a mere grizzly bear.

yeah, So if mebuy ever regains the ability to Stand, could you designate his bed as  a barracks and just have him train in isolation for all eternity? to avoid him going insane from long patrol duty, you can put him in a Squad by himself and give him no Scheduled orders, Since he has no other job he will just do individual combat drills and occasionally go on break. drop Some goblinite armor and weapons in there, and you have yourself an emergency defense system!

If he does I will. I doubt he will however. He's just sort of laying on grass and being sort of broken. I don't know how vampires heal [if at all] and I'm not putting him in a hospital where he can harm others. I've tried to be lenient but what was supposed to be simple A>B transition has become !FUN! [to a small degree] and I'm gonna err. on safe rather than sorry this time. Sorry mate, but at least you have a tree to watch. Plus I'll put a nice grate as the roof to give you a good view of the sky. It may not be dwarfy but it'll giv eyou something to contemplate.

I bet if we keep Mebuy alive long enough the village will end in a Sankis-esque way.
