Star Trek: Birth of the Federation Klingon Empire

As I promised, 2nd Let's Play of Star Trek: Birth of the Federation! This time, as you can guess from writing above, we will be playing as Klingons! :3 In case you want to see my first LP of this game, go here.

This time I will start equally with all AI's, on Level 1 technology, and the difficulty will be slightly higher. Because Klingons like challenge! :3

As Klingons, we will more often resort to conquest and war than to bribery, diplomacy and colonization than Federation. The 'morale table' is different - bombarding enemies, subjugation of species and declaring wars are good things, while making peace, for example, is not.

You must also know that Klingons are the only race that has ALL THE SHIPS equipped with deadly weapons. That's right! Even a group of scouts can be a threat, and your colony and transport ships can actually attack the enemy along with more dedicated starships.

About them ships: You will find quite a lot of them recognizable if you ever watched The Next Generation / Deep Space 9 series. Well-known Bird-of-Prey's, K'tinga's, Vor'cha cruisers, all of those are here.

Stay tuned for first post and I hope you'll enjoy this!

Qapla'!

Contents' List:
Chapter 1: The Beginnings.
Chapter 2: So many neighbours - Federation included.
Chapter 3: Allies & Saboteurs!
Chapter 4: Siege of Ullia.
Chapter 5: One down, three remaining!

Please put me in command.  I don't know much about Klingons ( in terms of their military positions or names ) so I guess "Captain Nix" for now, unless there's a suitable Klingon term.

Nice to see you doing this Haspen.

The Emperor, Krogh the Weak, is dead for a long time now. The High Council formed the seat of Chancellor, and then, we have turned to our moon, Praxis. And then, to other planets. And then, to the stars! It is time that our brothers and sisters leave the Qo'nos system and conquer the stars in the name of the Empire!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Two ships, IKS NaStaj and IKS Chovwl', a Bird-of-Prey scout and a colony ship, are ready to use the warp engines we have perfected so many years to carry us outside Qo'nos.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our wise men have been ordered to concentrate on that what is important for our Empire - weapons and construction! Nothing is more improtant than a sharp sword and durable warship!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our home system will have new foundries and hunting grounds soon, so we can build new Birds-of-Prey and colony ships faster.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ha! We have close neighbours! The way they speak is strange, but they have vast knowledge in sciences and weapons, and their home system is a large one! We shall, for now, cooperate with them, and see if they are worthy of becoming one with the Empire, or if they are only suited for slavery.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our colony ship arrives in this system of three large planets and a smaller, icy one. Good! Large planets mean a lot of living space for our warriors and their mates! Terraforming started immediately!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another promising home for Klingons! The construction of infrastructure at Qo'nos has been hastened, just so we can expand earlier.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hmph! If they do not wish to become friends with the Empires, then they shall become enemies. But we will see if maybe currency is what they want from us. Nevertheless, they will become part of Empire, one way or another!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Why all the stars have to mock Klingons and hide away from them! This is becoming annoying, especially that our home system starts to reach it's maximum population.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Our second scout, IKS Hemlom, is completed. It shall go to the western rim of reachable space and then go counter-clockwise, so the ship will meet with NaStaj. At that moment, they shall start traveling the stars together.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another interesting system! We can consider colonizing it later, especially that there's a planet suitable for living.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another good place for Klingons! Many different planets, providing little bonuses now or later in the future.
We shall now go to feast in the glory of brave captains of NaStaj and Hemlom! Can't wait to eat some fresh gagh.

//Haaah! First time ever I've met Tamarians in this game! And I've watched an episode of TNG series about them just something like an hour before starting the LP x3

A slight historical note, we're pretty sure the Klingons captured the first warp-capable ship with the misfortune of landing on their homeworld and "developed" space travel that way.

Good start, good setting of the theme. This should be fun!

If there is one thing I adore about this game, it is the care that the devs obviously put into the UI skins.

I'll take one of the fleets or scouts under the name J'rod house of Cain.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next turn, we find this huge system! Our scientists estimated that it can hold more Klingon warriors than Qo'nos itself! As soon as we will start expanding our territory, this system shall be our primary target for colonization!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We find this race in a system that was going to be the rallying point for our scouts. They hearts are strong, and they could be worthy allies. We only need to persuade them to seek their inner fire!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At last! More breathing room! Our females were growing restless as there was not enough place to raise our youths. Now, our sights are set on Yadera system, and after terraforming of El-Adrel is complete, our second colony ship will be sent there.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

After many turns, we have a breakthrough in Physics. A gift has been sent to Tama, so we can ask them about friendship later. If they reject, however... we will show them how wrong they were!

And then, up to Turn 37, nothing important happens.

3.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Turn 38 and we have Yadera colonized for the glory of the Empire! Our wise elders finish researching Bionics, Linguistic Interfacing and Continuum Distortion Propulsion.

One turn later, Construction and Weapons get onto second level. This allows us to construct Maq'duj/D5 class destroyers, which are sturdy ships.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ha! The strange Tamarians accepted our treaty. Our traders and slave-drivers already begun exploiting them with trades and offers.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In the meanwhile, an outpost is being constructed at this location. It will allow our scouts to reach even further away from Qo'nos, hopefully netting us more valuable systems, potential allies, or worthy enemies.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just look how far we can reach now! Upgrade to next level of Hunting Grounds nears completion at Qo'nos - after that, a colony ship shall be constructed, and then a pair of scouts.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We meet this creatures. And they are affiliated with a 'Federation'. What is this Federation. Are they allies? Or enemies waiting to be crushed under our boots? Hmph, we might know soon... //I also accidentally the credits with gifts to Bajorans. Derp.

At the end of this update, you get a galaxy map!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Damnation! Subspace in the galaxy has been disrupted. Our ships are stranded in the deep space!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fortunately, warp drives were back online after 3 turns. Our scouts found this large system on the edge of our reach.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Bah! Cowards, and even more cowards! The Federation vessel that visited El-Auriel is lucky that our B'rels are far away, or it would be a cloud of debris already! Yridians shall be conquered, as slavery is the only thing fit for cowards.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As our scouts discover yet another large star system, the cowards of Federation ask for peace. Ha! They still haven't paid for their intrusion, do they think we will agree?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another neighbours! These dog-people are good warriors, but they need to be trained. Shall we help them, or will they share the same fate as Yridians? That's a question for future!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Aha! Tamarians know what's good for them! Soon, we shall become allies, and their warriors will be our warriors. In the meanwhile, IKS Hemlom is going into the wormhole near Bajor! They were ordered to check what is on the other side, and then come back. Our scientists say that the whole trip shouldn't take more than few hours.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It seems that Anticans are interested in fight on our side as well! Good, good!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hemlom began streaming data from across the other side of wormhole. It is apparently located on the other side of the galaxy! NaStaj is currently joining two other scouts being built at Qo'nos, and then, they shall depart for 'north', to try to find and destroy Federation vessel which intruded our space.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Bah! And who do they think they are? NaStaj, along with two other Birds-of-Prey, are dispatched near Ullia, as the Federation-claimed sectors appear in that region. If they want fight, they shall get fight. It is time to schedule construction of a destroyer, or two!

A functional wormhole and the Federation pinned against the edge of the galaxy? This game can't be going any better.

I'd like to request command of a fleet of heavy cruisers, when the time comes. If I remember correctly those are cloak-capable birds of prey.

You used Chang. +200 points to the House of Ei'th :P

And yes, Birds-of-prey, K'tingas and K'vorts (scouts, cruiser, heavy cruiser) are all cloak capable.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Really? It's on, smooth-skinned bastards of a targ!
War has been declared!
Next turn, our scouts manage to attack a transport and a destroyer. After inflicting some damage to the destroyer's ships, they ran away! Haa, they were afraid to die in battle!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We settle Ruah in middle of terraforming. The other ship will continue to make the planets habitable.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As our scouts destroy a Federation Science vessel spying on the heart of Empire, Qo'nos is ravaged by a plague. No doubt it was doing of the Federation! Another reason to destroy these smoothskins. Most of scientists and farmers were directed to foundries to maintain steady construction of our May'Duj destroyers.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Qa'chuj strike group is ready, under command of Commander Nix of House Ny'rl. Three more destroyers and three more scouts are in produciton queue of Qo'nos shipyards. Now, we hunt for prey. Whilst an Outpost is clearly a good prey, we shall leave it be for a moment. We need more firepower to tackle it properly.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Some virus attacks our ships! Fortunately, it's the colony ship on that place.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We meet these strange aliens.
Qa'chuj strike group, reinforced with another destroyer, shall now attack the remote Federation outpost.

The attack was successful! The outpost was destroyed, so was one of our destroyers! Maybe their souls find their way to Sto'vo'kor! We will feast in their name!

Despite our efforts, Federation ships elude us.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And our only shipyard was blown up. We have traitors in our own homeworld! Fortunately the shipyard managed to complete IKS NaSdup, a B'rel scout, before that happened.

As our ships rout away a destroyer, Ferengi declare a war on us without any reason. Hmph. Well, more challenges for our warriors!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anticans became our affiliates! Tamarians are our brothers now! We can-- wait, starvation?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

...*eyetwitch*
The game is mocking me.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In the same turn Bajorans become our friends, an alien scoutship visits our system. Hailed, the crew introduces themselves as Cardassians.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A battle against two Federation destroyers turns well - one of their ships was pulverized, whilst other barely managed to warp away, suffering heavy damage.

Up to Turn 111, there's nothing important happening. We did get a non-aggression treaty with Cardassians, and they gave us around 600 credits with that.

Now, a pause. Can't really concentrate on playing with that Tamarian system failure thanks to trollRNG >:I

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Breakthrough in Physics. The replicator food is worse than fresh or raw food, but on long space trips, you can't really go hunting for Targ.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ha! Ferengi try our defenses, and they lost two war cruisers in their attempt. Pitiful little creatures. Qa'chuj strike group will now patrol Federation border in search for enemies or outposts.
Slowly, we are constructing another fleet, which shall escort our transports closer to Ullia. First, we will build an outpost, and then, we shall conquer that system for the glory of the Empire!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What a stroke of luck, we intercepted the two Ferengi ships that retreated last time! However, whilst badly damaged, they managed to warp out just before final torpedoes reached them.

We do destroy a Federation border outpost, but we lost 4 B'rel scoutships in the process. This was mighty battle, let's hope more are awaiting us in the future!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At Tama, our outpost and 3 destroyers manage to score a kill on Federation Destroyer.
Also, our security department reports of stolen currency from our treasury. They cannot say who is responsible. Federation, obviously!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At Turn 122, Federation offers us a treaty. I also have to mention that our shipyard was blown up again. It looks like there's someone else sabotaging us! I shall consult with heads of the Great Houses before we proceed with this.
