1st scene ultimate weapon. ANY other mêlée weapon in the game just gave a different animation. The only great thing in AC4 was the ship upgrades, because they genuinely made the game easier. Ranged weapons as well, but only to the point that ranged stealth-kills were possible. Many other AC upgrades were pretty much irrelevant until part 4.

I don't really blame the game for that. A decent combat system that the AI could use as well (or a proper stealth system) would have made the game unplayable. It's a story, and not too bad of one. Blaming useable (and easy to use) mechanics for what is an action-adventure romp is like blaming Star Wars for being a little bit crap cinematographically or having a poor script (or actors). It's a fairly good action-adventure regardless.

But anyway, Watch Dogs. Looks good. Don't expect too much. Not very much "blows our mind" anymore. Should be a nice little action-adventure-intrigue romp with a good story and some alright mechanics though. Looking forward to it.

edit: (actually, now I think about it, ranged weapons that were stealthy in AC4 probably went too far. It wasn't exactly a limited supply, so when you wanted to, the stealth/combat/or health system became irrelevant. But linked to an overly easy stealth system it didn't matter too much in gameplay terms regardless. Still, it mattered as an upgrade. Better than an inconsequential cash-earning villa in any case).

So, just as a fair warning to those who are waiting for the game's release next week, the Xbox 360 version has been leaked (Or rather, the first disc has), so if you're worried about spoilers just be cautious when looking up Watch Dogs stuff. Also, a lot of people are getting their preordered copies early because of the three day weekend.

On the plus side, people have been streaming the game on a few sites. Most of the ones that were up before are down now, but people seem to be keeping up to date on them on the Watch Dogs subreddit.

Watching the leaked versions hasn't done anything to quell my excitement. I took Tuesday off so I could play it all day. I'm looking forward to it.

So, is the network stable right now? That's my biggest concern with games like this, and with Ubi specifically. Inability to access the game servers on release day is a big reason not to run out and buy it.

My guess is that we'll have our usual run of release problems. Ubisoft's servers won't be big or fast enough for the "unexpected number of players", which is a humble brag that has the benefit of not having to pay for better servers, but as long as we can preload the game (And it actually works this time) I don't think there'll be many huge issues.

The entire reason people who have the physical copy are able to play right now is because they've turned on Offline Mode. I imagine we can do the same once we've actually downloaded/installed the game. It would take away the multiplayer aspect until things get running again, but judging from what I've seen so far I don't imagine there being a dearth of things to do.

Speaking of multiplayer, does anyone else want to try out the coop mode? If by some miracle the servers do work properly, I'd love to see how well integrated it is to playing missions and generally just dink around with other folks.

I'm Knight of Fools on Steam. Add me and we'll hack some shoots.

Driving with a keyboard suuuuucks. More recent Saints Row has done it but this is just like Saints Row 2 driving. Buy all the car damage reducing skills. :/

So, I'm slightly confused. Looks like this was slated for release on 27th, according to Steam and you guys are playing it already. So what's the deal with that?

I am still a bit leery about getting it because I honestly am not sure what it offers besides a mix between assassins creed and GTA. While that is not a bad combo I am still not really seeing a reason to pay $60 for it. I have not watched many videos or streams though so idk

I assume those people getting the game early are people who pre-ordered at places like gamestop...and because of the weekend they get it early as opposed to later than the release date

NOPE *whistle*
I play "demo's" beforehand. So far.... no way would I pay full price for this. It's not a great console port. Yes, it's fairly obvious this is a console port.

Well, you can't exactly expect them to implement anything like actual hacking.  That would require people to actual consider learning something.

And buffer overflow attacks are not for the faint of heart, or those with a fear of hexadecimal (admittedly, one of the only hacking type things I know how to do)

If they had hexadecimal anything it would probably be for show.

Want some good hacking game? http://www.streethacker.com/ Nough said. Also during the game, it is clearly said hat is was a suite of apps that was using exploit and has been given by a very good hacker. Pierce himself doesnt know how to hack, he just have an app on his phone that can use exploit in the CTOS to do multiple thing.

For more information, make sure you dont skip the cutscene during *Open up your world* mission when he see deadboy17 i think the name is?

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Does that mean everyone in the game world has the same capability? It's just an app? Wut.
