Notice he only shot the cops in the knee? I wonder if it detects that, and more importantly, it has an influence on your notoriety; e.g. is killing a cop worse than shooting a cop in the knee which is worse than hitting one with your baton, which is worse than just running away?

Once he capped them the officers dropped and started screaming. They look like they're rolling around in pain, but they don't stay on screen for very long to get a good idea of their condition.

Hopefully there'll be some "future" healing going on so I don't feel quite as bad about kneecapping every officer I see. Getting shot in the knee is a good way to end any career where you have to be on your feet. You're lucky if you end up walking normally, and that's after years of surgery, therapy, and pain. Never mind that your arms and legs are full of arteries that can make you bleed out within minutes if they're severed. Let's hope they're not too realistic, here.

If they were going for realism (they seem to be avoiding "Hollywood hacking" to some extent) they should have come up with some sort of stunner/gun combo (basically a contemporary Phaser).

Yes, knee shots are pretty much permanently crippling, and a shot basically anywhere has a big chance to kill you anyway.

There's a new video with a bit of multiplayer play. It's not on the Watch Dogs official channel, so I won't be surprised if it doesn't stay up too long.

It looks to me like the person getting hacked has the easiest job, though it seemed a little bit obvious that neither player was really trying. Note that the first defender just shot at the ground once he found the hacker, and how they both hid in fairly obvious places. I imagine if you were clever, you could easily outsmart the defender.

It looks like a fairly straightforward game of cat and mouse, where the mouse needs to hack the cat's cell phone. From how quickly the bar was filling up, I'm guessing that the mouse has two minutes or so to avoid getting caught. That's quite a while for a 1v1 game of hide and seek, but at least it's not a straight up Death Match.

I'm more interested in coop play, honestly. Hopefully they'll get some of that out soon.

Neat. If the game looks as good as this I will be pleased. Has a vibe kind of like Uplink. Simple enough to be believable as a GUI.

Yep.  I managed to find the place I'm living in London (though only until I leave on Saturday - it was a good seven weeks), and I'm seeing the tweets of people staying here who are watching the soccer match.

On srsbsns, I think that my comparing this to Uplink may not be too far wrong. The best this game could be would be by emulating the feel of it by quite a bit. You play as someone with maybe a slight edge over the everyman, but who still has to play smart to stay successful. There's huge organisations who you couldn't possibly hope to tackle on your own, and indeed you often can't even protect yourself against law enforcement if they come at you hard enough. Keep a feeling of secrecy, unlike a lot of games in this style where you feel fine running around ganking civvies 4 the lulz.

And yeah, I hope staying relatively inconspicuous is important, as well as being careful about who you piss off, and who notices you.

I've played Assassin's Creed enough that I've acquired a headcanon that many of the guard's and people do recognize you, but they also heard what happened to the last guys that cornered you, and don't want to accidentally end up being the next one's to do so.  I'm glad at least that it does seem like people can recognize you, and while not as extreme reaction as would be realistic for someone wanted on the news, it's certainly a step in the right direction.

So there is 14 minutes of gameplay video released(the first 5 was released before I think. The game continues to look way too good. I have been burned by so many Ubi games that I have almost forgotten that they used to make really great games. I mean, is there really a chance this could be a great game? I have decided to wait an extra week to get it on the next gen console instead of the earlier release for PC and current gen systems. It's for so many consoles that I think the best experience is likely to be there even though I have heard a bunch of stuff about how they have had a dedicated PC team the whole time, yadda yadda.

I dunno. The more I see of Watch Dogs, the more it starts to look like a re-skinned and re-themed Assassin's Creed. Which, I mean, is ok. But all the whiz bang technology to me is starting to look like window dressing for the underlying systems of other games. Right down to the "Guy spotted you, now he's running, chase him!" bit.

Or the CTOS stations, which are identical to the Vantage Points and Templar Towers from Assassin's Creed.

I wasn't in great danger of running out to buy this immediately, so my take doesn't really mean anything. But I went from really interested to mildly interested to "eh, when it's on sale."

It's really bad how Assassins' Creed this is. They might as well just have made it a sequel spin-off.
