In any case, I'm going to steal something someone else said on another forum.

"Comes off as a little gimmicky in such a short video, but maybe it's pulled off well. And while five years ago, I'd be on that like ennui on a goth, right now that just isn't enough to sell me. Show me a world as immersive and fun, and a story as engaging as GTA was and I can love it, but I didn't see that in the video."

Keeping an eye on it, but not expecting great things.

If the GTA series post-San Andreas are the measure of a fun, immersive and engaging game then I fear all hope is lost.

Heh. All post-San Andreas GTA games had pretty good and immersive stories, maybe including San Andreas. I have never seen a modern game that can top that. It's like reading a book sometimes.

Also, it seems like a game that's a few months away from it's release date. I'm sure there are more stuff like that than the crash script.

GTA4: Staircase murder simulator. Atleast that's what I did, a lot. It's so fun seeing people fall down stairs, probably way more so in the game than it is in real life. But yeah, immersive the game is not. Everything's so covered in plot armor that it's kinda silly. Niko's the luckiest sunovabitch I've ever seen. The whole place was rather lifeless, to boot.

Just lively enough to seem real, but pretty much nothing to show for how well it looked. I want an open world with free building roaming, damnit. Note: I only say this because while I loved GTA4, I was severely disappointed with the dull world. It's like nothing ever happens in the place. Then Niko comes along and people decide to start acting alive. I dunno, I expected alot more from a modern game, even if it does have a neat story and physics.

See: The only thing to do after you win is to kill people randomly and die and respawn. Otherwise you can... Call the cops, I guess. Go buy one of the 4 suits..

GTA4 was huge strides of progress in the field of translating all the shitty things about real life into wish-fullfillment escapist media, at the expense of fun.

I can't even remember what the plot was. All I can remember is every 5 minutes some whiney asshole calling me up and begging me to take them bowling or someshit.

I never played GTA, any of them.  I'm just stealing the quote, mostly for the bits on either end of the GTA reference.

I'll remain cautiomistic about this one until we see a bit more gameplay I think. I like the setting so far though (love near-future settings).

Yeah that's the character switch I was talking about, didn't realize it wasn't in the official trailer.

That's... Amazingly awesome.

I didn't even notice that.

Edit: Where is it in the video? I can't find it.

Intriguing. Looks like Ubi is finally putting their DRM policy to some practical use.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Look, I really like a game concept like this, and obviously, those NPCs reactions were boner-worthy. a problem, though, is that in
retrospective, it did seem a little scripted. My hope are still up, and I do hope this ends in a game of S.T.A.L.K.E.R-like NPC interaction, but with Ubisoft, we never know...
PS: Hey guys, did you knew that if you scanned the barcodes in the waitresses heads they take you to a sort of ARG web-page?
