No, the max they can get is "legendary+5", which is level 20 in absolute terms. At that point, they'll still make masterwork items at a sickening rate and spam your announcement log full of the things. You can find the actual rates at the dwarf fortress wiki. http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=96501.msg2765710 also has something on it. The highest rate of masterwork items you can get is about 33%, with an item and material preference for the thing the dwarf is making. It's closer to 29% if the dwarf is well-fed and not tired but otherwise just a plain old legendary+5 crafter.

I tend to make them mass produce the things, sell anything that is not masterful and equip my army with only masterpieces. You can trade a exceptional and below weapons and armor for quite a bit of things, specially useful if you trade them for metals. As for training your metalworkers, make them do goblets.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
My ship exploded midflight, but all the shrapnel totally landed on Alpha Centauri before anyone else did.  Bow before me world leaders!

Something has changed since 31.25, as he's making 50%50 masterworks and exceptionals.
And didn't make any other lesser quality for last 10000 (or 100000?) green glass corkscrews.

While the game technically computes skill levels higher than 20, they will not be visible in-game--notice that the provided screenshot is from Dwarf Therapist, an external utility capable of viewing the internal memory.

So a dwarf with a raw level of 9001 would be better than one who just reached legendary +5?

Maybe a stupid question, but anyone haves any indication when a new version will be up?

Probably some time this year, if not the next.

No way to know, but it's very unlikely that a new version is coming up in the next several months.

So will the dwarf with the broken spine recover and use a crutch?

No, if there was an update, the announcements at the top of the forum would change and toady would start a new thread.  This thread would be left to die.

Only vaguely. Made of the same substance and put to the same use, but a bit like comparing a castle and a doublewide trailer.
