The Terrifying World 0.1 - A Junji Ito Total Conversion
« on: June 03, 2012, 05:24:53 pm »

The world has ended in 2012 after all.
Strange plagues hit Japan killing almost everyone. The survivors are forced to flee from the dead fish with metal legs coming out of the sea. The country side seems unaffected by the plague but maybe the rumors of strange monsters, vampires, talking animals, dead men returning to life and the cult of spiral are true?

Modern Total Conversion with custom civs (so far only one, survivors), plants and creatures (big thanks to Hugo for answering my questions!)
For testing purposes of 0.01 - a small part of creatures and monsters, compatible with other mods!

Good lord, Junji Ito. We better be getting DRR DRR DRR in this mod.

I'll be eyeing this.

Does the SOUND tag works in the arena? It's the most important thing in case of DRR

Oh gods yes.

You need to add another civ though, to allow trading and such. (You only have so much steel in one area)

Also, you might want to do it the Corrosion way: Disable, or minimize cavern mining.

Oh shit, please don't add the creatures from Uzumaki. My mom's Japanese and gave me a copy of it a few weeks ago. Holy fuck the fuckin spirals. You know, there is one in your ear.

WTF?
Well, drowning victims don't care what they look like.

More or less neutral civs like fumeikyo monks or people from the town without streets is surely a good idea. I guess I'll keep the cavern mining available for there are untold monsters lurking underground.

The Eternal Spiral is coming!
A new soon-to-be entity, actively seeking to infect your camp with spirals. Expect to be sieged by:
Cursed human - These people will do anything to add something to their spiral collection.
Snail Man - A sad fate awaits the lethargic or those who tire themselves wandering on the fringes of Uzumaki's influence. 'Snail People' are humanoids who have slowed down enough to be snared by Uzumaki, and thus are reformed into a more fitting shape - that of a generic snail.
Spiral Medusa - Uzumaki bores into the minds of all within his spiral and his influence can rattle even the kindest humanoids. Spiral medusas are nothing more than these unnerved unfortunates suddenly cursed with very, VERY long hair spun into large spiraling patterns over their heads. Sadly, those that would rather not accept this gift find themselves unable to refuse - as their hair turns upon them at the first sign of rebellion. Thus, spiral medusas unwillingly (or proudly!) go about their daily lives while their hair hypnotises all who gaze upon their spiraling patterns.
Twister Rider - Controlling the heavy air those selfish creatures will send everyone flying - foes and allies alike.

Please don't make the mosquito mothers or row house collectives. I couldn't sleep for a week after I read that.

Wow somebody actually is trying to do this:):):) Well i think regional interactions for snails and cursed is what we need:) Like some curse (curse A) which can slow a creature down during rain - then another curse (curse B) goes in and if a creature already has curse A then it turns into a snail.

There goes my TTGL meets Uzumaki 'Spiral Nemesis' mod idea...

I shall perform my usual practice of giving away my incomplete work.  Twisted abominations, the final stage in the spiralization process!  If you make them [CRAZED] as well, they will tend to ineffectually grapple each other without end, turning into a mass of twisty humanoid figures.

That isn't a bad thing is it?
If more modders have the same idea for a mod isn't it better if they band together and form a small team that works in different areas to speed up progress on the mod?

I think that is the main problem with mods that revolve around the same idea, they all have great concepts and they all have something really interesting with great potential going on but they all die way to soon because there simply is to much work to deal with on what little spare time they have (and when looking at bigger overhaul mods the work may never truly end).

That idea is in effect now, Sanure is helping me with my Mod. And I help others whenever I need a break from my own.
