Most unimaginative dwarves ever.
« on: June 02, 2012, 12:55:55 pm »

Over the course of a year, two of my dwarves have made legendary artifacts.  The first was "Dentclashes" a phyllite mug, engraved with the image of Dentclashes the phyllite mug in phyllite... O.o    It gets better.  The next artifact is "Slimquiet the Hawk of Curls"...wtf.  It's a buffalo leather vest with buffalo leather spikes(?), square gems encircling it, a picture of gems made with stone (real classy), and guess what...an image of Dentclashes the phyllite mug.  So it's a vest with a picture of a mug that has a picture of a itself engraved on it.  It's mugception lol.

Wish I still had the save for this, but I had a whole chain of artifacts depicting each other, original was some xbow or something.

That should be a new type of project, making a rug design in dwarf fortress (With accurate coloring)

Give that vest to your militia comander, it will save his life.
I always have a leatherworker or two in the hopes of getting artifact leather cloaks/hoods.

Honestly, two artifacts in a year isnt bad and one fo them is actually useful for your military.
The mug, well, we always get those, but hey, it can be like "the royal mug" or something. It all depends on perspective.

Personally the only craftsdwarf workshop artifacts Im always happy with are gems and bones. Stone and wood, eh not so much unless it involves nethercaps or native platinum. Never gotten a wax one, but I think IŽd be very happy about it if only for the novelty.

Yeap, you do. Also honey and mead.

The worst artifact mood you can get imo is shells as there never are any around and theres no way of getting them reliably AFAIK other than hope you get some giant snails or your fisherdwarf catches a turtle or cave lobster. In the case of FBs, they make the best shells, good luck getting one though. A shell shield would be awesome imo.

I dunno what you're talking about. I got a legendary bone carver almost exclusivly through endless numbers of pond turtle and mussel shells being used to make trinkets and decorations on nonshell items.

Am I the only one who settles near minor rivers or something?

Yo dorf, I heard you liked artifacts, so we put an artifact in your artifact so it can be useless while it's useless.

Wait, moods can still use shells? I never seen that one... though I play genesis mod where some creatures have been modded in for this very purpose.

Shell moods should only occur if the dwarf likes shells.

Udosgiken, "Menlightning", a ashen floodgate.

This is a ashen floodgate. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with ash and encircled with bands of ash.

My latest mood was a mudstone door with pictures of squares engraved on it. No other decoration whatsoever. This being a very new fort, it is now the front door.
