  • Embarked in relatively cool place in a newly generated world
  • Built piano
  • Added play piano job
  • Random guy with carpentry enabled brought a LOG to the piano
  • Log exploded, briefly releasing a yellow gas
  • Piano deconstructed shortly thereafter, leaving nothing behind
...

I don't think that's how it was supposed to work...

I have an entire music system using a musical stage, instruments and interactions for 12 different song boosts in my mod, you guys might want to have a look at that. From speedboosts, better fighting, over cleaning, stopping tantrumes and raising the dead, everything goes.

I changed the boiling point to 5000. Still does the same thing...

First of all, this needs to accept sheet music, not logs. I don't see how they're even closely related...
And then it's not supposed to cause the piano to deconstruct...

I don't know where to begin... but maybe the music gas is so cold/hot it destroys the building materials?

In reaction_piano.txt
Code: [Select]
...
[SKILL:CONCENTRATION]
[SKILL:COORDINATION]
[SKILL:READER]
This won't actually work - custom reactions only use one skill. The wiki article states that "Multiple skills can be listed but only one will be used", but it's technically wrong - the custom reaction itself only has a single "skill" field, so if you specify multiple skills, the game will only use the last one.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

damn, quietust, thanks for that tiny little notion. I was using several reactions with skill lists.

Your reagent line is messed up.

   [REAGENT:sheet:1:ITEM_TOOL_SHEETMUSIC:NONE]

Should be

   [REAGENT:sheet:1:TOOL:ITEM_TOOL_SHEETMUSIC:NONE:NONE]

Actually I had the right reagent except I spelled TOOL as TOL... ::)

So far it seems to work. As in, I can't play it without sheet music. Thanks!

Needed a way to make some sheet music! So, I made an improvise command. Basically the dwarf will play music that doesn't provide many benefits at all, but it has a 25% chance of producing a music sheet. But it doesn't even show up on the piano commands list... Is this because there's no reagent or something?

First, it's "improvise" :P

Second, you need to make sure the reaction is in the entity.

(Third, people don't often write down improv :P)

Maybe "compose music" (or similar) would make more sense.
