Something isn't going right or they aren't geared well enough to function... Or I did something wrong in the raws (probably forgot to label something.)

Can you post the ones you are having trouble with?

It's something with the Sagon-Hai creature raws. I'll figure it out. I can just redo them cause they're quick to do.

Quick to do?  I don't believe in that statement, unless you took some stuff from other creatures.

Easy way to locate the problem
1) clear out your errorlog file in the same folder as the execute file
2) start DF
3) go to 'create new world'  (You won't actually be creating one)
4) hit esc when the 'create new world' screen loads and return to the title screen
5) exit DF
6) look at the errorlog file
7) wonder why you missed what was in there

or just run a Arena Test, since it loads all the raws and checks for errors even if entites and some reactions are not used it still checks it all

Nothing's been coming up in the error logs for the sagon-hai. They were designed to look mostly human for convienience so I can just copy most of thier needed parts from the human raws. I got a basic grasp of the caste level stuff, and since I have the lightening in place it may just be a slip up with those. Or I misnamed them and they're being counted as humans. Sorry for the slow respose too, I'm finally on a decent sleep schedual.

It was something stupid, I forgot the [CREATURE:SAGONHAI] part of thier raws. Now they work right. Kinda.

Did a test, I may have messed up the ability side of the prests, though the fire based ones work nicely, the unpowered sagon-hai are labled as "nothing" in arena mode. The fire casters will need to avoid confronting aggressors on open grasslands, as they're attacks can flat incinerate a humansized and burning outside = dead freemerchants and incinerated supplies.

I gotta say I'm learning quite a bit doing this stuff, and you guys helping out is making it easier. Now I need to get thier damned equipment to work and fix the unpowered sagon-hai's names so we don't have "Nothing goo" splattered everywhere after a bad ambush.

EDIT II: Ok, seems there's something up with the FLAMEJET token. Is there a way I can swap it out with another token so the lightening users can use that attack? It seems to not be an issue with the fire users.

Since you are making this completely custom, by not make grass fire immume? by opening
"plant_grasses.txt"
and dropping
[IGNITE_POINT:NONE]

right under

[USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:STRUCTURAL:STRUCTURAL_PLANT_TEMPLATE]

Should stop bush fires.

And the "NOTHING" name is probally a missing [CASTE_NAME]

EDIT:
[CDI:MATERIAL:FLOW:FLAMEJET] -- firejet as we all know
[CDI:MATERIAL:INORGANIC:NONE:TRAILING_VAPOR_FLOW] -- will spray deadly magma (hits caster too?)

What are you intending for the lighting?

I may do that. Fire users should be best employed as melee troopers since they have thier natural attacks

Man I am really bad at remembering to make this crap usable.... After several days of trying to figure out what was wrong with the faction specific clothing and weapons, I realized I'd forgetten the [OBJECT:ITEM] tag in the raws for them.... Man that's embarressing.

Anyway, I've gotten the gluphorie more or less ready, though like the Sagon-Hai I still need to get off my ass and make thier firearms. I'm going to do a prelimminary test of how well they function, since aside from the lightening castors not being able to cast lightening, everything is working right. I just hope one of my founders isn't a fire caster or they might incinerate the place because a raccoon looked at them funny.

Did you put the lightning material in its own file?

Was I supposed to? I thought you said to put it into the inorganic_other file. If I was wrong then again, this is embarresing.

On the plus side, the Sagon-Hai survive worldgen somehow. They seem to have a disposition to dodging (a few arena tests showed a dodge preference even when armed, armored, and with a shield.) Unfortunatly, when pitted against goblins of  similar standing (competant in relevant skills and armed the same) it seems either luck is on thier side or Sagon-Hai don't make very good assault troops.

Check the file, just in case.

Did you arena test the fire-weilders as well?  If so, this does not bode well for the fort...

I will say that unless they have a shield, any humansized target or smaller will be very nicely incinerated into utter nothingness. Those fire users are mot to be fucked with.

Even if they have shields, they are sometimes unable to block the fire, and if they are standing on grass, will be incinerated anyway.

the effect on a human sized target was pretty much complete immobilization and shortly after they were incinerated down to the cellular level. No blood, nothing. It basically knocks them down and they die very very quickly and the remains are shortly incinerated.

Anone coming on mounts will likely be killed simply by thier mounts getting blasted out from under them xD But having seasonal forestfires might be a bad thing....
