I support any effort made by Splint, although due to time constraints I won't ask for a turn. I'll have to watch from the sidelines =P
Maybe add monsters native to your setting as enemies? And don't tell anyone about them to keep them as (un)pleasant surprises.

Bear in mind this is a garrison of soldiers. Trade isn't exactly the main goal.The hostile races will probably be what's employed, if that's alright with you.
