why are you adding a "s" to trolls ?
It's only misko who apparently still live between 1945 and 1990, when USA was the center of the world.
Now after 4 wars lost or failed in 40 years, some still thinks they are the center of the world. Most understood that it is not possible anymore.

About the french community, it's sure our community is probably small, for some simple reasons :
- The game is in english
- The game is mostly (if not entirely) textual, with a lot of written description (battles & description mostly)
- The game is not intuitive at all, and actually worsens the difficulty of the language.
- The vocabulary used is not very well known (well anybody in France who plays RPG videogames, even if not very good in english knows some words like swords, blood, shields or standard RPG vocabulary, but will probably not know drawbridge, millstone, loom, capybara ostrich or many else). Even for me, who can read and write quite fluently the game is sometimes hard to understand.
- At last, there are barely a few sites mentioning this game in English, so imagine in French.

About jeuxvideo.com, It's sure that the "50 most funny bugs" or "10 better endings" or even "full testing of diablo 3" will always be most known than "a test of Dwarf fortress" (that's why the "big companies will pay to have the 50 BOOSTS" option is not true, i think)

But on the other hand, it's in our interest for we, all dwarf fortress players, to make this game well-known. Because most players = more $ for Toady one = he can work on this projet on full-time until 2100 if necessary = we players are happy
And if after months and months of work to make this game better known Toady earns 10 000$ per month, maybe he would hire someone to help him, and then the game will progress twice as fast = we players are happier.

So spit on French if you want, spit on everybody in the world out of USA if you want, but if we all want to continue Toady to make this game we - community of players - have to do all we can.

Merci à vous.

He was pretty obviously joking from what I saw, and GoombaGeek definitely made it a bigger derailment than it should've been. I guess it didn't translate well. I'm pretty sure no one legitimately thinks the US owns Mars.
In any case, I voted for it.

Can we just stop for a moment and focus on our real enemies?

Yes. I'm going there.
I'm talking about the Lithuanians.

Damn those Lithuanians! Them and their Lithuanian culture. As a self-respecting Filipino, nay, as a self-respecting human being, I can't stand those Lithuanians. I was around during the Commonwealth, you know. I hated it. And now they have the gall to do whatever it is they're doing right now! God, I hate Lithuanians.

Well, to be honest just the fact that people keep bringing it up is annoying, if you want to talk about it do it through pm's or something.

And if anyone says A WORD about the aforementioned topic after this post, their not getting any cookies and all their dwarves will fall into magma. Forever. Also, while were at it, lets keep up the pace and vote on that website.

But all of these posts are like (80% making snappy comments about the derail) (20% trying to mention something related so it looks like you're the only person who isn't dumb). Maybe we could try not talking about it in our posts at all!

on that note is voted for df lol so im on topic i hoep this is the last post about rasicm

A new topic has been launched by a fellow gamer (not be, though) to make this game better known.
We have to reach 7500 votes (only the first topic in number of votes is treated, and generally you have to reach 7500-8000 for that) in 90 days, which is 83 per day.

We are at least 600 on this forum EVERY DAY (source : forum stats). So if only 13% of the baywatchers were clicking on "Voter" (Vote) every day, I think it's possible.

Well, okay it's highly unrealistic, but I suppose that's a possibility.
Just add it to your bookmark, and every morning (or afternoon) just click on it !
Anyway, even this topic can't be rated first, the higher it will become, the more people will see it.
You may think that it's useless, that people who are looking to this videogame site will never never play Dwarf fortress because it's too mainstream. But for you, people outside of France, you have to know that jeuxvideo.com is in a nearly monopolistic position for everything linked to games. It's one of the most visited french sites (between 20 and 50th most visited, of course after google, fb, twitter, etc.). So even there there are surely people who would be interested by the game.

If only even 1% of these people came, or even 0,1%, that would be important in volume.
After all, all of us discovered DF one day, from somebody or something.

But as for surrendering, I don't quite get how americans keep on talking about it. Military defeat was certain, and losing every soldier would've been useless. Of cours the high-ranking officials surrendered because they feared for themselves, but why has almost everyone abroad forgotten about the resistance ? The people didn't stop fighting, in fact they chose to fight in the harshest way possible : with their families held hostage, no defense against the occupant who could - and has - blindly killed hundreds just to lure a few resistants out. When your relatives or friends can be captured and tortured because of what you do to protect them, when your neighbours can betray you and you have to fight for everyone yet trust nobody ; that's a harsh war.

HEY GUYS HOW ABOUT HELPING THE FRENCH COMMUNITY OK?

OK?

OK.

THATSOUNDSGOOD.

Il say it once and il say it again, a million times when people argue about it, why the hell do you care? You had no take on the results of past wars (unless you commanded in them, which I doubt) so why do you feel like its hitting you right in the ego when someone says you lost/they won? This is the internet. You will never meet these people. Why do you feel so compelled to prove yourself to them, in the form of bragging about sensitive things you can't control

I could, at this point, go on about how cool my country is for doing something against a country, like you all feel so compelled to do.

Like really. Have you ever just thought to yourself what the French community thinks of us now? Imagine a diplomat of a starving country leaving, going to the United Nations, then coming back saying "they argued about what country is better".

Y'all are acting foolish.

By the way, on the subject of the French community, I have been meaning to join it at some point, as I speak French, but have been to afraid as my French is.... less than perfect. This just popping up from whoever bumped it up reminded me of it. So thanks for that. You should see me using bad grammar on the forums any time now :p

For the love of all that is decent, let this thread DIE. It took literally 2 posts before we returned to arguing.
