I like Keanu. I only saw the Matrix trilogy for the first time years after the 3rd was made but he was good in the whole series even if 3 was kind of bad what with the strapping pilots to the outside of robots.

I like John Wick like Mortal Kombat games; I might not like that he takes the time to execute downed foes but it has it's place in an artsy violence sense, and Keanu plays John Wick well.

The Matrix series and it's concepts were well known and popular with video gamers around the time when the movies released, and John Wick was also a playable character in Payday 2.

I don't think I've seen Johnny Mnemonic. Bill and Ted is pretty great though.

That was the only one I triggered and it was a mess. If that's what you're comparing their previous work to then 2077 is a downgrade.

Really? In what way in your opinion? Yeah there was a lot of visual noise but I felt like, I dunno, compared to other such things, the pay off was at least more interesting.

Well that's typically the pay off of most of these bits in video games :P

I guess it was the difference in styling that made me appreciate it. Witcher games are romantic, ya know? Candles, a bath tub, whatever. Or kinda "down in the hay" honest. This was very of Cyberpunk. It was metal. And, I dunno maybe because I did most of her missions in a big chain rather than haphazardly like most story missions, I felt like the game built to that moment well. Believably. Appropriate to the character.

TBH I could have done with even less visual noise and rapid camera work, I agree there. Still, I thought it was overall cool enough to even bother posting about. Which puts it above most video game sexy time.

Anyways, to move on to something far less pleasant...as has become tradition with big video game controversies: IT'S SCHREIER TIME.

Haven't read it yet. But he did give CDPR a heads up this was coming, which some are saying is the reason we got their mea culpa.

Kinda, probably the best investigative journalist when it comes to the gaming industry. Dude has written a number of big expose pieces on shitty practices and the like. Gives the above linked article some more weight and credibility.

From what I've seen CDPR's response to Schreier is... "his sources are anonymous!"

no shit, given what happens to whistleblowers in this industry.

Yeah, when video games get big enough, there are some actual journalists who do actual journalism about it. Schreier's work tends to echo pretty loudly around the industry, because he talks to lots of actual devs. I think his last big claim to fame was the ME: Andromeda release.

I think I'm very close to begin done with the main story. Still have about a dozen side quests to finish off. I'll probably? finish it completely in under 200 hours, we'll see.

Despite everything that didn't pan out with Cyberpunk, I think I've had a good time overall. I can tell because once I realized I'm getting close to the end of the main story, and a lot of the side character story arcs are starting to close out, I'm feeling slightly melancholy.

Got kinda bored and stopped this one after finishing up the voodoo boys arc. Ran out of motivation to continue fighting the same groups of half a dozen bad guys over and over. The grind got too old.

Once I get the itch to play again, I'll probably pick it back up. The good part is that there's no real skill involved in the game, so losing my memory of how to play isn't too crippling for completing the future content.
