Speaking of Trauma Team, I thought they were really cool. SWAT meets paramedics.

I think that's how they are in Shadowrun, too.  Heavily-armed air-ambulance guys.  I think there was mention of like door gunners too.

Yeah, you generally didn't screw with docwagon in general and the upper level ones specifically. They tended to be heavily armed, which isn't exactly surprising for rapid-response mostly!urban probably!combat ambulance/medic work in a cyberpunk setting with extra magicy critters.

Yes, iirc some of them had medium or even heavy machine guns.

Looks really, really cool. Have to say I was a bit put off by some of the things that they said (multiplayer element, FPS, focus on combat etc.) but it looks really awesome and I am super hype. I think they've got the atmosphere 100% for a cyberpunk game, and the characters we've already seen seem really interesting. The constant swearing felt a little bit juvenile, but its easily overlooked.

My only worry is still the multiplayer aspect of it - I'm really hoping they keep it a completely optional part of it. I just don't want it to become a grind-fest or that they make all the cool stuff a bit lame to make sure all play styles are competitive etc.

Multiplayer? ???

The game they're shipping will be 100% Singleplayer, though they're looking into the idea of adding a MP component post-launch, whatever form that might take I'm not sure, (DLC, or gta online etc.)

That was also SP, at least as I recall. Just endless waves of guys to fight until they finally brought you down.

The thing with the scavengers coming back for more while you’re driving around strikes me as something that probbably will be an actual mechanic. Open world games need random encounters, and making one of the encounters be “the buddies/survivors of the last gang you screwed over” seems like a no-brainer

W3 had plenty of moments like this. Unfortunately, you got the sense they weren't random or dynamic. They just had some ambushes and some recorded voice lines but once they happened, they happened and that was it. I know they wrote many of these little "random" encounters for W3, but they never felt random. They felt scripted and it felt like they were a healthy number of them.

So when I saw the scavs I immediately thought the "two guys harassing a peasant" moment in W3.

The game they're shipping will be 100% Singleplayer, though they're looking into the idea of adding a MP component post-launch, whatever form that might take I'm not sure, (DLC, or gta online etc.)

I hadn't realised they had confirmed that it would be single player only at launch, however the main trigger for my worries was that they brought it up in the video (in the bit with the mantis claws) - he said something like 'this build would be good for solo'ing' or similar.

I'm not worried that they won't do a good single player campaign or similar, it's more that they may do the Dark Souls thing of 'multiplayer is well populated -> nerf everything (regardless of MP or SP) to make sure everything is a competitive playstyle' (therefore taking away some fun playstyles) or start making it more grindy than it needs to be to give something for MP players to work towards.

I'm sure they won't go full loot boxes and all that, I'm just a generally cautious. I'd love separate deathmatch/racing/whatever games on the side - especially if they wove it into the gameplay; they could basically make e-sports a thing in game, which would be pretty crazy (winners showing up on news feeds, adverts using player characters etc.) but I don't want 'and we have some PvP zones so everything now needs to be balanced and take a long time to get'

A solo is a class from cyberpunk, basically a wetworks operator. You're a solo because you're the one solution to a people problem. You're a solo because you can take on a tac-team by yourself. You're a solo because you've lost so much of your meat that you're basically clinging to one purpose. You're a solo because the addiction and the paranoia instilled by the implants and combat drugs have left you alone and without anyone to trust.

Ahh I hadn't realised it was a class from cyberpunk too - that fills me with a lot more hope! Thanks for clarifying that.

Obviously there's the well known MMORPG term of 'solo' as in 'I'm going to solo that dungeon' so I had assumed it was that.

Cyberpunk has an entire lexicon of slang to get used to.

I would like to see something akin to watchdog where if you piss off a corp real bad assassin(player), can jump in and you try to defend yourself. But you also get a warning IE your fixer call you saying i jeard somebody has been hired to take you down.

Eh just a wild idea there.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Pretty sure they've confirmed this is 100% single player and offline.

Pretty sure they've confirmed this is 100% single player and offline.

I looked into it and it's confirmed that it's single player and offline at launch (or at least, they confirmed that a few months back so I guess it could change), but they're adding multiplayer post launch.

CDPR advertised jobs for multiplayer specialists specifically for this game, so I imagine it'll definitely be in and have an online component, but just not at launch - a bit like GTA.

I don't mind multiplayer as long as it doesn't affect the singleplayer experience, if any studio can get it right i'd imagine CDPR would.
